I used to run a pub. I'm a damned good mixologist. I love everything associated witha good pub or club. The drinks, chat, dancing etc.

Anyone fancy sharing some recommendations for watering holes and drinks?

Great cocktail recipe!

Ferrari Jack (for the Scots) AKA Kentucky Godfather(our American cousins)

A short glass
Fill with ice
Half measure of Jack Daniels
Half measure of Amaretto
Fill with cola

The strength of the alcohol is to taste but please drink responsibly. All the best and enjoy = )

One of favourite watering holes in Edinburgh at the moment is the Golden Rule in Polwarth, but better still is the Second rule downstairs. The beer and drinks are fantastic the staff are warm and wonderful. The customers are rough as old boots! I love it.

My favourite beer is called Jacobite Ale. It's only available from Traquair house - which is the smallest brewer in the world!

The brewery is fortunately only 5 miles from a place I grew up called Peebles. It's 9% volume though (not proof) so it's strong stuff.

Once again folks please drink reponsibly = )

Don't post so many posts before someone else posts. You could have easily put all of those posts in one message.

Also, pretty pointless thread, but since I'm not old enough to drink, I'll just leave ;D

(Ps. Baileys = 8D)

I am not old enough to drink, but even if i was, i would not. Alcohol kills brain cells.

One of my favorite sayings is:

"Alcohol may cause memory loss, or worse, memory loss".

Pus, it is hard on you're kidneys.

Theres a nice little pub down by my flat in London called the Duke of Welligton.

Theres all the classic British drinks there. Its a sort of pub tradition to drink from a communal Wellington boot. Tastes absolutely foul.

Id love to go to Scotland. My cousin lives in Edinburgh he says its mental up there.

As for clubs, Fabric in London is by far the best, its quite cheap entry, the bouncers arent tossers and its absolutely huge with great DJs if yr into the trance scene.

However as for a night out, when i went up to Newcastle a few years back it was the most incredible night of my life.

To the kids and the bigger "kids at heart" - as a mark of respect

Listen guys I can appreciate you may not approve of drinking at all and that's an excellent principle until the time is right. Start drinking too young and you spoil it for yourself.

I should also say that people who choose not to drink have as much right to that decision as those who choose not to.

There is a pub on Rose Street called Citizen Smith and used to be called Filthy McNastys. The owners named it because the implication was that alcohol was a filthy nasty business (in a tongue in cheek kind of way). However There was an ode above the bar signed "anon" which read

If there's alcohol in plant or tree
It must be nature's plan for there to be
To some degree
Some alcohol in man.

Big Donald the doorman would tell you that the original purpose of this was to suggest that drinking to enjoy the taste, the people and the atmosphere is a healthy, socialble and respectable desire - an important part of our culture and heritage!

Please understand alcohol is a drug. It has a use and a misuse. Which is why the majority of my posts will always say - PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY.

It's a matter of respect, a courtesy from me to the other adults and the people who run the website.

The reason the tagline says not to post if you're too young to drink is my way of respecting the innocence of your youth. Please respect me and the other adults by refraining from posting on this forum if you are not old enough or in any way prohibited from drinking or purchasing alcohol.

Thank you

Dear god it was brilliant. What struck me was how d.amn friendly the locals were being a southerner all you get in London is mouthy rude 14 year olds drinking smirnoff ice and stumbling into the gutters. Up there everyone is out on the streets having a good time and you dont feel threatened. Plus the bars are huge and tyhe nightclubs are great too. Probabaly the best night out ive had in a long time.
