well the term car...I guess I could give you info from Wikipedia....

The word automobile comes, via the French automobile, from the Ancient Greek word αá½ÏÏÏ (autós, "self&quot and the Latin mobilis ("movable" meaning a vehicle that moves itself, rather than being pulled or pushed by a separate animal or another vehicle. The alternative name car is believed to originate from the Latin word carrus or carrum ("wheeled vehicle&quot, or the Middle English word carre ("cart&quot (from Old North French), or karros (a Gallic wagon).[3][4]

I would have loved to have lived hundreds of years ago just coming up with names for things. Just walk through a forrest whats that err.... a pear why is it called that 'cos I say so. I wouldn't want th be the person to first see the death cap though sounds dangerous but someone had to do it.
Butterfly is the word that concerns me most it is the only animal name that doesn't sound similar in any european language
