As you all know there will be a new American President sworn in, in a couple of weeks. If I have this right..I think that Obama wants to add more taxes on the rich and make them pay more and give more to the poor.I just wanted to know how people felt about that. I think its rather unfair to tax the rich, because most rich people make jobs and are employers so if you tax them more wouldn't they cut jobs? Also why punish people for being rich, isn't that the dream to be able to live without financial woes? Also who do you think should be taxed? The rich, the poor, or how about a flat tax where everyone pays the same thing?

Discussion points:
1.Should the government tax the rich more?
2. Tax the poor, or tax the rich, or the flat tax?

Well yeah it is unfair to just tax the rich, but some of the rich just spend their money on stuff they dont want to buy. The poor spend almost all if their day just working hard trying to earn money. But since the economy is so bad right now I think they should still tax the rich and the poor. Or at least to raise the taxes by not a lot to the rich and lower the taxes of the poor.

Some or most people that are rich work just as hard to make and keep their money so if they want to spend it on pointless things they have the right to. Like there are some people who have fancy cars, rims, jewelry, and they can barely afford to pay their car note, house note...etc, and the house they live in is a shack, so I think that goes both ways

Okay so if they could "barely afford" to pay something they wouldn't be called RICH would they?

in some ways, poor people help the economy. whos gonna do all that work that poor do? and how are the poor gonna pay the taxes? u know, my dad has one of the worst jobs u can work and we struggle a lot and i used to get a job so i can get a ball. its hard stuff ppl dont know about. And what will the rich do, become... not rich from taxes? No. theyll be ok and have a home and a good neighborhood

Not true, there are people that live off of the government.
They get their rent paid for, daycare paid for, food stamps, welfare, etc...It was even a court case on a show. Even the judge told one of the litigants use the money the government gives you for what it was supposed to be used for, your children and not go buy cars and bail people out of jail especially when you're not working or give the government back their money and let it go to someone else who needs it.

I believe in the flat tax. This makes everyone have an equal burden on taxes, and prevents social tensions on this basis.

I was speaking of citizens that work and pay for their stuff, not government cared citizens.

@Agent_86 I do too and it'd be easier on the income tax...
