Well I've heard a couple people ask others would they rather be called African-American or Black. Someone even asked me that...I told them I was an American. They told me NO you're African-American. I strongly disagree with this notion. Why can't I just be an American? I am not denying my roots and my heritage.I know my ancestors were slaves but for a person to be African-American wouldn't they have to be born in Africa then become a citizen of America or another country? Or their parents were born in Africa or something...Both my parents were American...Does this problem exist elsewhere? If I lived in France would I be African-French...or just French? Or in England? African-English...or just English...
If I ever have to fill out an application and they ask my nationality I am bubbling in Other and writing down American, because that's what I am.
Discussion Points: I don't have any just discuss... xD
I was going to a Texas public school that decided that they had too many whites. So they imported some more Mexicans and told me to drive to school 10 miles in the other direction. The only problem is, white is basically everything else besides black, which makes up 10%, or Mexican, which makes up 80%, of my community
We are all humans. That is our species. We are all alike, have to share the same planet, the same societies...
*flails hand in air* I'm not human! *evilsmile*
anyways, this is pretty crappy, but I think it's a way to organize people for certain projects, I.E. that survivor season where they paired you up by ethnicity in order to "improve gameplay"
Isn't it hilarious how High School Musical is supposed to be set in New Mexico, but there's not a Mexican in sight?
That is really funny, I would have critisized that long ago if it was meant to be in New Mexico. For one, I live in Albuquerque, which is one of the better cities, and there is no middle OR high school that clean or BIG, let alone with that high of test scores <_<U. That should have been Arizona or at least southern california....oh wait, it WAS in california *end sarcasm*
I'm British. Don't forget us! Armorgames isn't only for American people you know.
We dont have the same problem in Britian, most of the time we are regarded as being of different nationality by the police anyway. Most people would say black people are West Indian, even if they have lived here their entire life. At least you get the -American, part at the end.

No I don't want the -American at the end. Just American.
True, but here we arent regarded as English at all. Maybye it is the island mentality, but Britian is by by far one of the most xenophobic countries I have ever been to. I can't say America is much better, but the ideals the US Astands for at least condemn the type of behaviour that exists in England.
