I think this is pretty random but... Why do we yawn? What good does it do? Why do we yawn more when we are tired?

there is an explanation i think. WE are yawning because we are in need of oxygen inside our body. Or we lack sleep or something.

That's a theory like another, but far from definitive.

I've just looked it up on wikipedia and there are a lot of those theories, but none knows the exact reason yet.

I yawn because I'm tired. It helps me stay awake. I only yawn when I'm tired. Looks like I've answered everything now.

we yawn to get more oxygen, not for being tied, although when your tied, you use alot of oxygen, thus you yawn

This is why we yawn tiredness, stress, overwork, lack of stimulation, or boredom. Got it from the article in wikipedia.

This is why we yawn tiredness, stress, overwork, lack of stimulation, or boredom. Got it from the article in wikipedia.


Those are the known situations, what is unknown is the real scientific cause that connects those things.

And I must admit, it puzzled me as well.

Hmm.. I am often tired, might be that.
I'm stressed because of homework.
Yeah, I work so freaking much because of homework and school.
Lack of stumulation? Whats that?
Yeah. Bored... Exept when new games are out, or my friends are on. =)

Hmm.. Okay. So we need extra oxygen? Where do you guys learn all this? O_o

LONG homework,7 hours in school...

since it doesn't have the word sexual in front of it, I'll say that it means sleep.

Looking at that wiki page I can see the best theory is obviously to help relese surfactant dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine ftw. Or to stop your soul escaping.
I hate it when I yawn because when I do so I cry randomly. Another question why do I cry when I yawn/

When your tired or bored you yawn i yawn when i work too hard or get stressed sometimes and Zega your 12! How do you not know this stuff? Hell I'm 11 and i probably know more stuff than you do...
