That depends on what console do you wnat 2 get it for. If it's on PC and you have a good internet connection then you shoud get L4D. If you dont have X-Box lve or a Ps3 connection than cod world at war is the wat 2 go.

Ok, Left 4 Dead is the best online! You can be the zombies [hunters, boomers, and smokers]

So get L4D when:
+You have X-Box 360 w/ live
+A lot of friends online
+A sibling to play with [optional, more fun!]

Rent it, to get the hang for it.

COD5:
+PS3 amazing graphics
+Only sibling [network]
+You like the WWII trilogy of COD

Rent it, to get the hang for it.

L4D's well worth the buy if you're getting it for the PC, if its for a console just get COD, but L4D is just amazing.

I would wait a couple months when the price goes down on both before you buy either of them(or both if you choose) so you'll save money because whenever games are new I don't like buying them at $50-$60 because I don't think they are $50-$60 of gameplay, same goes with consoles but not gameplay but games.

i just got it for a couple a days ago.
really read this topic i got a lot so say!!!!!!!

the game is great in many ways. as allways the developers(thats valve, who also made counterstrike and half life in case you didnt know) were able to make a video game that is so very simple and easy to understand and you can pretty much head right into the game without a fuzz. the game consists of 4 campaigns, all with the same princible.

no mercy, where the survivors try to escape the cityscape, by reaching the top of mercy hospital and fetching a chopper.

Death toll, where the survivors fight through a forest to reach a farmhouse to reach a boat.

Dead air, where the survivors fight through the rooftops to the airport to reach a plane to escape.

Bloodharvest, where the survivors work their way through the fields to reach a farm, where an APC is arranged for pick up.

all the campaigns has absolutely nothing to do with each other. to preserve the true identity of a oldschool zombie horror movie, theres no real plot in this game. it starts two weeks after "the infection" which aparantly is a mutant rabies virus who eates up peoples brain and voila ZOMBIES!!11

each map is build up pretty much the same way.

first you fight the many zombies on the way to the five chapters in the game, which all mark the start and end of a new chapter.
in most chapters the survivors have to activate a certain item to get going(remove a vehicle, start a generator to open a door and so on and so on). this is a "horde attack" where the survivors have the ability to build up defences before the horde comes and wrecks hell... you usually get a pair of molotovs and pipebombs to do that(ill return to them)
when fought you can proceed.
in the final chapter, there is usually a radio to activate the pickup vehicles. this is mostly a house or something. when activated, the pickup arrives about 5 minuttes later. this is where the ultimate horde comes at you, and you are gonna have to defend the house from the zombies to stay alive untill the pickup arrives.

usually (on normal setting) the survivors finish up 1000-1200 in total. on Expert(very hard) youll wind up killing 3000.

there are 6 weapons in the game.

Micro Uzi
PumpAction Shotgun
Automatic Shotgun (can be found in chapter 2) m4 super 90
Assault rifle (also chapter 2) m16A3
Sniper rifle

all weapons have their pros and cons. but allways note that you can reload any weapon and hit zombies at the same time(pretty usefull as you get to hit them a damn lot)

then there is the gun. guns can be dualwielded and is your sidearm... its quite easy to do a campaign only with them.

then there are several type of zombies.
Smoker: uses its tongue to ensnare a survivor, courseing damage. when killed it emits a smoke cloud(hereby the name) that damages on contact.
Hunter: quick and agile, able to longjump. uses pounce to jump unto a survivor and damages a lot.
Boomer: has very little health, and has the ability to vomit on their enemys. the vomit attracts normal infected, so get away when you see one. when killed it explodes, doing damage and sprays vomit on nearby enemys. enemys with vomit on them cant hardly see, and the effekt wears of in 20 seconds.
Tank: rarely seen(thank god) this is the most deadly enemy you will ever encounter. the tank has 10.000 hp, where normal has 150 and hunters has 250. does emmense damage each time it hits, and is hard to bring down. the whole team needs to do an effort to bring one of these boys down.
Witch: this is a badboy in any way. the witch is only defensive, and will only attack if you light on it with a flashlight for a pair of seconds or if you shoot it. the witch is fast and will dodge shots, but worst of all is, that it will ALLWAYS kill in a single blow. she has 1000 hp.

this game is incredibly fun to play with friends, so get 2 or 3 friends to play with you... its also fun to play with strangers ofc. but buy ON steam, that way you save about 10 dollars. at least in my country

L4D is freakin' awesome! Just make sure you don't accidentally play all night and show up for work without sleeping!

it a good action pact game to play but cod5's nazi zombie game makes it seam similar except the fact that in left 4 dead u try to escape and it has the more power full creatures other wise they both flood u with zombies.
