India's caste system is a left over traite of ancient Hindu culture and I quite frankley am completely opposed to it. No matter how good of a person you are, your social rank always defines how bad or good of a person is somehow. it's completely corrupt. People have begun violent revolts in India and as a result the upper class has been raiding small Indain Villages inhabited by the untouchables, the lowest possible social rank. Women and children are being forced to clean up poop off the streets, drink water where pigs have put their fudge in, and much worse. Yet the upper class treats them like the water they're forced to drink without question.

Adding this for some helpful info:

According to the Caste System, I'm a Brahmin, since there's a section for priests, that equals healing, and my future job deals with healing of sorts. But that doesn't mean I'm anywhere like these nobles are. It's not in that link, but there's a section that deals with the Castes today. The DNA of all Indian castes combined are nowhere different than the rest, where in the Hindu faith, they say that the Brahmins are the sacred spirits of Brahma, one of the Hindu Gods. With this in mind, I say that the Hindu faith is all a bunch of hooey, but the same could be said from all religions, in another person's perspective.

If you travel to India and/or become an emigrant there, you are automatically a Vaiyshya, the "middle class" of India. From there, you must present wealth in some sort of corporation, where they will either raise/lower your rank.

By Indian law, the caste system is now illegal. It is still practiced obviously, but India has made HUGE reforms to change their ways since gaining independence.
