It has come to my attention ( from youtube ) that the cute little smurfs are actually little blue communists! :O
Note that the Smurfs have no apparent need for a currency nor buissiness, all the smurfs simply work hard for the good of Smurf village.
"From each to his abilities, to each to his needs" says Karl Marx, creator of communism. Here we can easily see this portrayed in the Smurfs' ranks. There are Smurfs for building, learning, cooking, teaching, all jobs! And each one does his job with no questions asked and no need for any sort of money at all.
Also, take a closer look at papa smurf. He has a long beard ( like Marx ) and a red smurf hat ( communist red ). And he treates his fellow comrades like his children ( hence the name PAPA Smurf ). He is a great mentor, protecting his children from outside forces of greed ( possible capitalists ). He is something like the communist vangaurds Marx talks about in his famouse Manifesto of the Communist Party. He merely guids them rather than rules them with the iron fist of despotism.

I think the smurfs are more of jews than anything, I mean look at it more in depth, they aren't violence and papa smurf is their little pope and they worship an unknown religion I'm assuming it's jewish, they aren't communist just simple little jews.
I'd have to agree with Parsat, though i've never seen an episode of the Smurfs unitl yesturday and unitl the day I saw that youtube doc, I relized how much sence it made.
Eh I saw that my teacher played the Youtube video for us a bit back because we're learning about the formation of Soviet Union.
I dunno if it's really supposed to be like that, probably is I mean back then cartoons were the prime source for 'ropaganda', just look at Looney Toons, there's plenty of things in there relating to the current events at the time it was made or so. I wouldn't count out that the Smurfs are Marx's Communists unless you got every single person who influenced and helped in the production to take a 100% True Lie Detection Test, which is impossible I would think =P
