I found this article when I was looking through CNN, and it caught my eye, here is the info:

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- It was described as one of the most grisly scenes Los Angeles police had ever encountered: the bodies of five small children and their parents, all shot to death, in two upstairs rooms of the family's home.

"The reaction on their faces was not a pretty sight," neighbor Jasmine Gomez told CNN. "There was an officer who came out of the house throwing up."

But even more incomprehensible to some was the story that emerged after the bodies were found Tuesday: A father who, after he and his wife were fired from their jobs, killed all six family members before turning the gun on himself.

In a letter faxed to Los Angeles television station KABC before his suicide, Ervin Antonio Lupoe blamed his former employer for the deaths, detailing his grievance against Kaiser Permanente's West Los Angeles Medical Center, where he and his wife Ana had worked as technicians.

This is just sick and wrong to me mates, I mean, why would you kill your kids just so no one has to take care of them? They had their whole life ahead of them, and now they are dead, which is quite sad indeed.

What do you all think? Is what they did alright, or horrible?

Suicide isn't a very reasonable response to a job loss.

The story brings the reality of the current economic situation. Link to article please?

Well, the media here is saying that this guy was in deeper trouble than just losing his job. He owed the IRS at least $15,000. He was drowning in credit card debt. He got fired because he lied about his income to try and get free daycare for his five kids, who he couldn't afford to support anymore.

Then maybe they should have given those kids away. Like Fritz said, they had their entire lives ahead of them! This is disgusting!

i think it's a reasonable protest to the bail out money being spent on the CEOs and not to save jobs.

This is just horrible, and most of all selfish in my humble oppinion... Why should your loved ones pay because YOU got fired? Some kind of revenge on humanity? Conclusion: A selfish and savage act of foolishness.

Would you help kill a sick and starving person begging for death? What if you knew they would be like that 10 years ago. Wouldn't you just save them the pain of living a life of begging and starvation? If he and his wife killed themselves, their kids would have been scared for life. It's better that they were sent to heaven, to a better place. Wile the homicidal parents made the ultimate sacrifice and went to hell for their sins.

I won't step quite into that moral dimension though I'm kinda glad to see the controversial line of thought being put to good use here.

i think it's a reasonable protest to the bail out money being spent on the CEOs and not to save jobs.

I wouldn't say reasonable but perhaps symptomatic, yes.

When is it ever reasonable?

lol Talo, there are a few notable examples of that, which one(s) did you have in mind?

"When is suicide ever reasonable?"

This is a question currently being given berth in the "should medically-assisted suicide be legal" debate.

suicide is not reasonable its taking your own life and in the case of this story (first page) others too, its pointless and stupid, even if for religious beliefs.
