Exactly! The mysteries of what is, what was, what is to be, we can't ever solve them all, yet we must keep trying! And that's what makes it so intriguing, we don't WANT to quit, we as humans require more and more knowledge. Curiosity killed the cat? Bologna! But if I did that for a living, it wouldn't be any fun, I'd be told what to research and what I was supposed to find out, and don't forget having to lie to the public to keep my job... ah, it's all about politics. No, I'll stick to earning a living writing music. Who knows, maybe I'll pick up that big Hollywood movie contract someday.
Depends on how you do your research! You can do your own areas of research, you just have to go about it differently: proposals, grants, etc. If you are being paid through a big company specifically, yes you might not get much choice. But some places you can choose!
Next quarter I am doing a research project as part of my marine studies, and I haven't decided what to do yet. So many possibilities!!
I was talking to a friend the other day that said studying the past was a waste of time. I was personally taken aback! If I was not going into marine biology, I definitely would have been doing paleontology. I love geology! It was so sad to hear someone say that the past science didn't matter. So not true!
If we don't study history, we are doomed to repeat it. If we do study history, we are doomed to repeat it. History will always repeat itself. It's better to be prepared for when it does happen. Roman empire? BAM. Look at America. Scary similarities, I'm seeing... Starting to get a little more worried about terrorists than is healthy.
So true. I think it helps us learn about today to study the past. Besides, it is incredibly fascinating. It is like detective work on millions of years ago!
