I was writing some reviews for various games when I realised that the comments I had written had started to remove the

^ gaps v

between paragraphs. The reviews looked good and well structured before I posted them but now they look like a big block of text. I'm afraid that this puts people off and they won't vote it up. An example of one of those reviews would be here (it may be pushed onto other pages due to more comments): http://armorgames.com/comments/show/3212/game/3

You will see mine and how the different sections are joined together when I put spacing between paragraphs.

Can anybody please help me? Thanks.

Hit enter twice or maybe even 3 times at the places you want a spacing?

Not sure have to test it.

Yeah, spacing is eliminated when viewing all comments, which is a little annoying, but not entirely offputting should anyone want to upvote your comment. If it is one of the first five comments, the spaces will be there. Content is more important than its visual appearance.

Having encountered similar problems (I tend to write multiple paragraphs for reviews), we can fairly safely say that we are able to discern structured arguments without having to look for paragraphs. Though to be sure since I don't write for merits, I can also appreciate that it's just plain bothersome.

I went back through the thread- Sep, sorry to delete your test but I can say that it appears different depending on where you view it from. Hitting enter 3 times did appear to leave a doublespace gap in the quick view though in the full "view comments" view this disappeared, as Gantic has said above.

Bottom line though is that it probably doesn't matter so much: when I assess merits I treat them like my professors probably treat a long-case presentation. Hm, I could learn something from this...

Okay thankyou for the information. I understand now, but is there some way that Armor Games can fix this?

Not right now but maybe there might be a time where the coding for the comments box could be reviewed. As far as I can tell that'd be a major job that might...cause all commenting to go haywire for a time though so it's a bit of an iffy proposition!

If it would make commenting go out of control then maybe Armor Games should have a page that says the website is going under maintenance for a day or two.

I wouldn't mind these maintenance periods because there are a lot of things that need to be done on Armor Games and perhaps these times would be ways to implement new features without disturbing other already implemented features.

An example of this would be here: http://www.dailydragonfix.com/

Not that I'd know anything about the scheduling but if anything like that pops up we'd be sure to let you all know first!

No, it never double spaces in paragraphs. Since comment pages can only fit so many comments on one page (games included), it's much easier to view comments when they don't take up so much space (no pun intended).

Believe me, when I first saw the missing spaces in my long game reviews, I panicked as well. Now I realize that it's better this way.

I think, if you're one of those people who really doesn't like the "double-space disappearances", you probably write short game reviews and put lots of spaces in them to make them seem longer; and that is another reason why spaces don't show up in comments and reviews; however, that has already been covered and I don't think I need to explain what somebody else has clearly already explained.

The double spaces in posts, however, usually have a real purpose when making a long point; if you're slow-minded (like me), you may just lose your place...
