If the entire world was under one religion then there would be less conflict and discrimination. The world under one religion is not probably going to happen anytime soon.

That's true. There would be no terrorism and less wars (I think...)

There would still be problems. Religion have rules, but humans are always changing, and changing the rules with them.
There would probably go no less than a century before the religion is split in fractions, as well as people declaring themselves atheists.

Humans = problems.

TERRORISM DOES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH RELIGION.

Pretty much every religion, at least every well known one (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism etc.) forbids war or killing etc. unless its inevitable and really for good reasons.

Now on the actual topic:

It depends really greatly.

Most probably there would be less sh*t going on everywhere.

But it is really important, mostly if this religion interferes with common sense.

I mean, any issues in the world should be managed with common sense and nothing else.

And religion is something that people should totally keep to themselves. Even if everyones the same religion.

Even currently, pretty much the only problem is that people dont keep religion to themselves and sometimes let it interfere with common sense.

Everyone being the same religion is no better than everyone keeping religion to themselves and governments etc. being managed with only common sense.

Im saying that religion simply shouldnt make you do things that significantly affect people other than you, especially in negative ways.

If your religion says you should help the poor, well common sense leads to the same. Helping people is just something "good" if you think about it.

But if your religion says that people who believe in anything else will go to hell, and then you start to offend other religions, then thats bad.

BTW as people WILL let religion interfere with their lives significantly (i mean: as what i said above wont happen anyway), things like religion schools etc. (however you call it, English not be my mother-tongue =P) ARE important to keep people well informed about the truths in religion.
As all religions, in heart, actually are bound to common sense anyway, teaching religion properly would actually be just as good.

Well thats my thoughts. Put out in a not so organized way but hopefully some people will try to understand.

umm..i really dont see that happening any time soon since everyone has their own opinion and it'll be nearly impossible to convince any two group of people to follow the same religion. also if this some how happens there will be a lot less conflict between nations and groups of religious people. however i dont think discrimination and racism will stop, some people will just think of a way to make it seem that their race is above all the others in the new world wide religion, then conflict would break out between this sections of religion. which would cause the governments to step in to stop the conflict, which might just make everything worse when more governments get into the conflict, and next thing u know were in world war 5 or something and peace is thrown out the window

Don't worry about sounding dumb! This is a wonderful debate platform!

Any-who, if the entire world was but one religion, people would try to create different branches of it, modify it, argue and go to war about silly interpretations, much like Christians after Constantine brought the whole religion to life in Rome. The Catholics believe this; Mormons believe that, it is human nature!

In communism, Lenin revised Marxism because he thought it wouldn't mix well with Russia's working fields and called it Leninism (basically revised Marxism). Then when Lenin dies, Leon Trotsky and Stalin both formed their own branches of Leninism called Trotskyism and Stalinism. Both sides argued that the opposite side was not a form of true communism or Leninism and that their version of it would continue Lenin's vision. Then, when Trotsky is finally swept aside and later murdered unjustly by Stalin, Stalin continued to kill off all former Leninists and Trotskyists and left only dedicated Stalinists through fear and death.

In Nazi Germany, the SS and the SA, both branches of the Nazi Party, ended up having a bitter rivalry and the result was the extermination of the SA, leaving only the SS to have influence over the Nazi Party.
And even in the United States, there are different opinions on how capitalism should be run; Liberals, Conservatives, Libertarians, Independent party, all of them think the country should be run a different way yet all support the same constitution.

The second the world turned to one religion, there would be rebellion. New prophets would come out and conflict would be arguably worse than any religious war ever known.

Not only that, if the world was one religion, one person would take power and eliminate opposition. There would really be no freedom of thought. What a crappy life.

If everyone had the same religion, the world would be a very boring place.

-Usually, religions rely on learning a certain language, and if everyone has the same religion, they would generally all speak one language in common; therefore, it would be very hard to keep secrets from one another.

-The human race would be without a lot of modern technology, since a lot of important advancements relied on science that crossed religious borders.

-True, there wouldn't be any religious prejudice if everyone was the same religion, but if the people don't have enough technology to support themselves, they'll work themselves to death providing.

-What would this religion be? No matter what beliefs a religion contains, there will always be non-believers. I'm stumped to find what this religion would be about, as I find any religion containing unprovable beliefs to be illogical.

I wouldn't say there would be world peace just because everyone shares the same beliefs. Think about the current religions, Islam was divided to Sunni, Shiite, and less commonly, Drooz. Christianity was divided into many sects, catholics, protestants, etc. Also, we would have people misinterpreting the text (if this fictional religion had one,) interpreting it too literally, for example. Furthermore, we'd have extremist and careless followers.

Where would the state come in though? Would we all be bound by religious laws and not those of the state?

If everyone was the same religion, there would be branches of that Religion. No one ever agrees with the masses. Some one always has to be different. Rebellion is in our blood.

I would think that there would still be disagreement between those who believe in religion and those who don't. Just like Talo said, no one ever ever agrees with the masses

Than we all would be fools unless that "religion" happened to be atheism.

That is absolutely true. I think we should consider the fact that if there was only one religion then that does not mean there are atheist or non religious persons.
