You sir are mistaken. It is one of the finest pieces of cinema from the 90s. I love the moment you find out the twist. It made me want to watch the film again from that different perspective.
Read the book and seen the movie. I'm amazed by how similar the movie is to the book, but then again there's somewhat a big difference sometimes. It's one of my favorite books and films. It's in my top 10.

Actually, my favourite thing with the movie is David Fincher's directing. It's unique, such as the shot coming through the rubbish bin and the IKEA tour through Ed Norton's apartment, and it's always energetic. Two hours gone in an instant. And I love the style of the narration, talking to the audience, breaking the 4th wall, like with the cigarette burn, and self referencing to the movie.
