So I've had this cold for about a week now, I've mostly had some nasal congestion, which leads to drainage, which has made my throat hurt. Does anyone know of any remedies for pretty much a really stuffed up nose? I've tried all the conventional stuff, Sudafed (nasal congestion medicine) saline sprays, hot showers, and nothing has really worked very well.
I am going on a 3 day ski trip tomorrow and would like to be relatively better before I go on it. Does anyone know of any nasal congestion type remedies?
Heat up some water so that it's borderline boiling. Get a decent sized scoop of Vick's VapoRub, and put it in the water. Stir it around so that it mixes up pretty nicely.
Once the lump of VapoRub is mostly gone, throw a towel over the bowl and your head and inhale deeply for 15-25 minutes. Keep water on the stove to add for when the steam starts to slow down.
Yeah Zootsuit's meathod is pretty much what I do, cept I normally use the shower all the way on the hot side because I'm normally home alone and I'm not allowed to touch the stove or anything like that =P
Yeah, i've tried making the shower a little sauna for me, but its hard to stand in the shower with water that is hot enough to make steam. Grr, colds are so frustrating.

Is it the over the counter, or the one you get from the pharmacy? Because they can only offer the kind with pseudoephedrine if you get it from the pharmacist directly (doesn't require a prescription, they just have to hold it behind the counter). The over the counter stuff doesn't have it anymore, and it doesn't work at all for me. So if you look at the box and it doesn't have pseudoephedrine as the main ingredient, you know you got the sucky kind.

Why are people attacking me for being a kid who does what my parents tell me? I didn't realize my job in life is to disrespect my parents and all people who happen to walk near me. I do not care what the governments say they have never told me a thing on how I should live my life aside from laws, which I follow as well anyway because they are there for a reason.

My grandma also has a way to get rid of colds, not sure if it's effective, I've long since rebelled against the long boring torture of her method. Basically you put Vapo all over your back and then you lie under a really thick blanket for a couple hours, it supposedly gets rid of the cold itself(LIES, ALL LIES, at least I would think), but it may help if you run out of things to try when getting rid of your little cold =/

No, its the real stuff, my mom went and got some that they hold behind the counter the other day. I've even tried the 12 hour stuff... no dice. It just seems to be my left nostril that is all stuffed up, and my right is just partially. I tried what zootsuit said to do and that seemed to help the most, but only for about 30 mins.
I have to as well, when I have my spontaneous allergies that occur when we go to the coast(which isn't often thnxgodplz), I have to be put on 3 different ones for some reason...what's funny is my allergies don't get too bad, just takes 3 medicines to stop my nose from running and a random cough every so often =D
