I didn't know where to stick this... I'm not a newcomer so newcomers section wouldn't work... We need an "Ask Questions Section"... Ok so is Necroposting frowned upon here? Necroposting is posting on a dead topic. Just lemme now.

Sometimes people complain about it, but it's totally fine, according to the mods.

i thought this was posting at night-time (necro = dark) O.o

i get kinda annoyed if someone brings back a topic when there is a similar one on the front page...

Of course I'm allowed to post

As a general rule of thumb, look through topics less than two weeks old before creating a new thread to make sure you don't create a repeat topic. If you can't find anything within that time-frame create your own, don't go back and bring back an old one. It may have been resolved or is off on a tangent.

It actually depends, Bringing back a pointless topic that has already been solved or had no point in the first place is a "No,No" But bringing back a good topic so it isn't remade is fine-diddilly-ine.

Yep, this would be the best course of action! =)

I would agree with what fst6 said and now that the question has been answered, what should be the fate of this thread?

Thank you so much. This will help me. Necroposting on this I guess would be a no no because it's solved. Most forum sites I go to hate necroposting, but this is different.

That doesn't mean you can't ask a question there.

I once did Necroposting. I went back ten pages in the Support and Suggestions to find an old thread of mine. But I remember that one guy did it and got shouted at by others because it wads a very old thread.

I first thought this thread was something to do with nasty posting.\\

That would take longer to sift through than to write the post. I suggest that older users go back into their memory and see if they once posted on a similar topic. I do that a lot.

Unless it happens to be the oldest thread in the section(On the last page of this forum).

Maybe posting extremely old threads that were buried is ok.

Old threads die out for a reason. They simply get boring, long or locked. So let them be and don't dig the dead up from their graves.

Indeed, they are just not interesing.
I thought that "necroposting" was called a "bump" but whatever... >.<

Bring really old thread back to life if you havea valid point to discuss about the topic and do not want to make a vestigal secondary thread is fine most of the time.

Bumping, on the other hand, is simply to bring a topic back to the top of the list of current threads (mostly with a pointless post) and is teh badz.

Necro actually means dead, not dark. Or something close to dead, anyway... Necrotic tissue is dead tissue?
