Anyone have a problem with chewing on their finger nails? I always tell myself NOT TO DO IT! But I end up doing it anyway, it's an addiction or something. Any tips to stop?
I bite my nails. I'm also addicted to chewing on things... One time, my teacher thought I was chewing gum, she made me spit it out... And she found a (clean! before I nomed it)rubber band, lol.
I do it if I'm really stressed or something is bothering me. I don't know if it's a comforting habit, because I'm stressed 24/7. I think it might be more of a defense mechanism than anything.
I bite my nails, only when I'm nervous. I tried to use bad tasting nail polish, but I kept bitting them. I usually have a pack of chewing gums with me. If I feel the urge to bite my nails, I eat a chewing gum.
While I tried this and it worked ok set a graph that shows when you could bite your nails like maybe 4 times a week and ever week you lower the thing to 3times a week and so on and so on and if you do that that should stopn you from biting your nails or atleast that worked for me.
Put any type of terrible tasting liquid on your fingertips and when you try to bite your fingernails, your body's natural reflex would be to pull your mouth away. Eventually your brain would learn to stop trying to do that. If that doesn't work, try to put a solid that tastes terrible on your fingernails (e.g tape).
