Umm...why are mods just aloud to close topics as they please? I mean what if a mod goes power crazy? not to name any names but y did Devoidless lock the Pineapple Pie thread? it seemed interesting...and he didn't even give a good reason to locking it...
Mod's won't go power crazy, and if they do, they will be dealt with by other mods. They able to lock it because it is their job to keep peace and abide by the rules.
i agree about the pineapple pie thread, and some other threads, but its not for us to oppose. mods have utter control, why try to fight the AUTHORITAH!
no point in posting somthing like this, other then the joy of another locked or deleted thread.
If you disagree with the actions of a mod please dont make w(h)ine topics about it, its better to contact that mod and ask him/her about it. If you cannot work things out then you could contact carlie about the matter.
Mods are carefully choosen, they never abuse their power and if they do its the end of their modship. Its as simple as that, im sure devoidless is willing to discus this matter via pm's.

Topics are locked based one a few main things. Such as...
Is there a point? Are the posts in it good? can it be added to? Is ther anything left to say? Did it need to be said? Does it exist allready?
Those aer just a few points moderators use, but they won't go power crazy. If you have noticed they are all very good people, who are choosen, so power crazy...ness dosn't occur.
Yes, they fail, and thats why more then half of the topics end up locked.
And you may like them, but when there is only a limited mount of things to say, people start repetting.
So really, i don't know why you like spam topics.
But yes, some may be funny, or random, they don't need to be plugging up the mian page for things that acctually have a point. Such as the most succsesfull tavern thread ever, the ZSC.
and what point does the ZSC have? every post in the tavern has a point... cept the trolling threads and those crappy spam threads full of triple posts, 1/4 of the threads here are spam but others are not, favourite pie is a nice topic, why not discuss that?
Threads are locked if they: -Have no point and are bound to collect spam -A duplicate -Hateful towards a people/person -And the other reasons given.
I'm sorry, but what point is there to make a whole thread about pineapple pie? If you notice, a lot of threads are still open.
The Tavern is a place to make topics to discuss whatever does not fall into the other areas. It is not a place to just throw topics that would get locked anywhere else on the forums or go make willy-nilly threads. All the normal rules apply here, needless to say.
Strop is ridiculous when it comes to closing threads...if he doesn't like it even if its not apporpraite he closes it...i've had like 5 of my own topics locked by him and they where apporpraite...i think they should make strop not be a moderator, he ruins it for everyone

We have been trusted by the staff and the other moderators to have a good sense of judgement about the threads in this forum. With this trust came the power to execute enforcements of our interpretation of the rules. Occasionally we're wrong. But usually not.

We could have a hell of a lot of trouble, until a more sane mod or admin came online and banned the crazer. It could result in permanently lost threads, due to deletion. But again, the mods are handpicked. Partly because they are trusted NOT to do that.

I think it's been said, but that thread was for one a duplicate, for another to likely to get spammed. If you'd actually been giving out recipes and had real, intelligible conversation about pies, it might have been a valid thread.

I would strongly disagree with this. I'd appreciate it if you could give me links to these threads of yours, as I would like to see how and why he locked them, since it displeases you so much. Also, being appropriate isn't the only thing that matters. A thread needs to be able to harbor intelligible posting.
