Masquerade - I sincerely doubt thelistman was implying that cometman was a racist for hating America. Hating the "melting pot of the world" can hardly be classified of racism, since we probably have the most diverse ethnicity of any nation on the planet. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)
The racial slur "cracker" refers to caucasian people, not Americans. You can call a Brit or a German a cracker. It might not mean anything to them, but it makes more sense than saying it to a black American.
I'm guessing he meant cometman is a racist because of the seeming Arabic slur:
most likely to die from (aaaa la la la la... boooom!)
By the way... I spent eight months working side-by-side with over 140 Iraqis, and I have more respect for the work ethic most Iraqis have than many of the Americans I've worked with. They're intelligent, caring, hard-working people just trying to play the hand they've been dealt. They're glad we're there, and they're glad Saddam Hussein is gone. They appreciate that we're doing what we can to help rebuild their nation.
And Masque... you're coming across as a snide, cocky pseudo-know it all American. Peppering your poorly written paragraph with a few long words only impresses those who aren't well-read. And I realize this is
ad hominem, but hypocrisy fires me up. Especially pseudo-intellectual hypocrisy.
By the way... if you want something to get mad about, get mad about American, Iraqi, and third country contractors bilking Americans. Get mad about the fact that Iraq earned $90 billion...that's billion with a B... in oil revenue between 2005 and 2007, and only spent 10% of that on reconstrution, while billions of U.S. dollars continue to roll in. Get mad about the Iraqi government stashing their oil revenues in the Federal Reserve Bank instead of using it to help its people. And by the way... The U.S. government paid them $435.6 million in
INTEREST on the money Iraq should have been using to help its own people.
Yes, this indicates a lot of screw-ups and possibly some corruption on our side, but if Iraq isn't ready when President Obama pulls us out of there, I'm ready and willing to point an angry finger at the Iraqi government.
As for the OP being stupid... I think it rare and admirable of him to care so much about the government at such a young age. I just think he needs to do a little research and form an opinion of his own, because it sounds like he's regurgitating what he's heard from friends, family, or even worse... a teacher.
