Am I the only person here who enjoys playing Text-based games? I have lots of fun doing it and you meet lots of new friends. They are difficult and they allow you to imagine everything the way you want it to be.
If you don't know what a text-based game is, try this one out.
I always called them MUDs(Multi-User Dungeons). I think they are what you are speaking of.
They are not for people who lack imagination. If you can not read an visualize what you read, these games are not for you.
I enjoy them because they also force people to spell well. If you type in a command with bad spelling, the game will not accept it. So if you are in the middle of a heated battle and type 'csat magic misle', you are going to die. XD
