Isn't space amazing all the planets and stars. What is it that they're saying know that they found the I of God.

Lol yeah I think it's funny that people are reacting to these things like they are, because it's not like we can just fly out there and see if we can live there. That's a 20-year trip if we could fly at the speed of light. That's ridiculous without taking into consideration that we are not traveling that fast. I think the best thing to do if we really need to go live on another planet is to terraform Mars. Of course that's still slightly ridiculous. And what the heck, how is that news if it's been found over 200 years ago? Guess they're just trying to make it news again or something.

fun fact: light-speed is 186,000 mph^2 (squared)

So...(gets out calculator on phone)...34,596,000,000 mph?.. wow, that's pretty fast. Now that's the speed of light in a "vacuum" like space, right?

fun fact:

In a vacuum light travels at 186,282 miles per second.
In a diamond it ravels at 80,000 miles per second.
In sodium (cooled to -272 degrees celsius) light travels at 38 miles per hour.
In a bose-Einstein Condensaye of Rubidium it comes to a complete standstill.

I find space somewhat interesting, but some of the names, and the formations are just confusing.

I don't know if I poster this before but pictures here are mind blowing.

About Cometman's question I don't know what to believe, if big bang is true, how did it happen and what was before it? It didn't explode by itself. Or did it?

Big Bang or God thread. Space is an interesting place to watch. Humans won't be colonizing any planet so soon. So I would say we should take care of here better.

Yeah please try and keep the Big Bang vs. God debate in an appropriate thread. There's the one mobyduck put a link to, and the God thread also has become something of a Big Bang vs God thread. This is more of a current space thread I think, not a beginning of universe thread. And pixie, light comes to a complete standstill in that rubidium thing, huh? And it gets pretty slow in that ridiculously cold sodium, too. And yeah mobyduck, we should focus on making Earth better, but like in the cartoon Futurama, they have people on Mars by some time before the year 3000. Now of course it is a cartoon, but I still think we should try and make that cartoon a reality. :P Besides the spaceship moving the universe around it while it stays still or whatever that nonsense was in the episode someone showed me the other day.

thay say that we can chang mars to a world like ours to live on but the CRAZY thing is we do it by poluting the planet
(yea thats really going to work)

If you pollute a planet how can that make it so it can support life?
