If you had to pick the best Instrumental Rock song, which one would you choose?
Although the song does have a short section with 4 lines of lyrics, I would say that To Live is To Die by Metallica is one of the best Instrumentals I have listened to. For a nearly 10 minute song, i would say only a few seconds of words would still classify it as an instrumental. One of their best songs period, and dedicated to late bassist Cliff Burton, the song was written by him months before his passing in 1986.
Another good Metallica instrumental is Call of the Ktulu; it would be the second in my mind, but what do you think?
I like Overture (and I suppose Underture) by The Who from tommy. Wipeout by The Ventures(?) is pretty good. Also I would mention Louie-Louie by The Kinks. sure it has voices but their used more as an instrument than vocals.
Oh yeah!!!!! I completely forgot. Sorry about the double post. The best one in all of history!!!! is.......YYZ by Rush. The drums, guitar, bass and special effects are all INSANELY AWESOME!!!!!
Sorry if the prompt wasn't clear enough... By instrumental, i meant solely instruments (minimal vocals, no more than a few lines)
YYZ is a good one. Never listened to very much from The Who Pixie, I'll have to check em out (by the way, triple post was probably from the new submit button.... kinda glitchy).
