A lot of you guys are naming really crappy bands. I stick with the classics. Here's my list:
1. Led Zeppelin 2. Rush 3. Black Sabbath 4. AC/DC 5. Metallica 6. Judas Priest 7. Iron Maiden 8. Ozzy Osbourne 9. DIO 10. Poison Honorable Mentions: Def Leppard Guns N' Roses Aerosmith KISS Cream Alice Cooper Jimi Hendrix Experience Black Label Society
I know many say Zeppelin isn't metal, but guess what: they were metal for their time, and the greatest at what they did; Rush was very experimental, but there is no denying that they are hardcore metal, and one of the best and most influential, especially for Metallica, whom Kirk Hammet said Rush was the reason he ever picked up a guitar.
1. Dark Tranquillity 2. At The Gates 3. The Devil Wears Prada 4. In Flames (mostly old stuff) 5. Killswitch Engage 6. Misery Signals 7. Five Finger Death Punch 8. BFMV 9. Metallica 10.Sonic Syndicate
Sorta surprised at some of the bands appearing on lists... Bon Jovi? Metal?
1. Metallica 2. Slayer 3. Pantera 4. Megadeth 5. Iron Maiden 6. Lamb of God 7. Black Sabbath (founders) 8. Led Zeppelin (I think of them more as a rock band, not a metal band, but they were founders) 9. (Insert apparent metal band such as BFMV here) 10. Cannibal Corpse
4. AC/DC
Frylock, I know you know a lot about music, but no matter how heavy some of their songs were (i.e. Ballbreaker, War Machine) AC/DC has never been metal. I don't want to sound like "that guy" but I've been listening to AC/DC for... 4 years now, even though I haven't been listening to them for the past few months. But still, they've denied that they were a metal band.
