I remember when I was still in grade school Peter Jackson was filming the Lord of The Rings movie not far from where I lived. Everything was so hush hush. My friends Dad is a jeweler he made the rings for the movie. It was so cool how they made teachers and locals dress up as elves and other extras in the movie. If you look real close on the first or I think second film there's a red Minnie in the background during the snowy mountain scene on Frodo's quest to destroy the ring. Personally I like the concept of the whole story I wish my grandfather was as creative as J.R.R Tolkien. So What do you like about this film?

In New Zealand not far from Nelson. The Hobbit houses are actually sheep houses the interior is just a studio.

I'm not a big LOTR fan; they are some of the most boring movies I've ever seen. Not many movies can actually help a man fall right to sleep, but this series managed to do it each time I watched one. Isn't LOTR Popular Media, by the way?

Moving this to Popular Media because it is a discussion about something that fits in that forum section.

I love the story~ And the movies are rather impressively made.

I love those movies and i have all three of them with the extended edition. Its almost 4 and a half hours long. I tried to read the books but its just too long.
If you really like the story you should check out the new LOTR movie, "The hunt for Gollum", witch is made by fans. It will be viewable for everybody on a website, free. check out the trailer on youtube.

web,The hunt for Gollum has nothing to do with the original story. It was inspired by the writing of J.R.R. Tolkien. So its not really the "new LOTR movie",its just a short independent film.
