Just a couple days ago, I received my monthly issue of Gameinformer and was very excited to see that 2K has announced Bioshock 2. It sounds way better than the first one, with a more interesting story line, new and improved weapons, and lots of other cool new stuff.
Here is some of the stuff I saw after reading the Bioshock 2 article:
The Story: As far as the story line goes, things in Rapture took a turn for the worst after the main character, Jack, left during the first game. The destruction and mayhem that he had caused led to a shortage on the ADAM supply, since there were no longer any little sisters to harvest it. The remaining splicers fought frantically over it, killing one another to have their share of the diminishing substance. That is, until the Big Sister came. A new more powerful and female version of a big daddy, the Big Sister has brought with her the little sisters in order to keep the ADAM flowing once again. And, as a Big Daddy, its your job to protect the ones you once harvested for the ultimate treasure.
Weapons: You may have noticed that the weapons from the first game were simple, cobbled together from old house hold type materials. In Bioshock 2, the weapons are much more like they should have been. And now that you are a big daddy, you have access to new and better weapons, like the huge motorized drill and the rivet gun. The motorized drill replaces the wrench as your basic melee weapon, but uses an overheat feature to keep you from using it for a prolonged period of time. You can now also use weapons and plasmids simultaneously, allowing for even more choices when dealing with encounters.
Gameplay: The gameplay is primarily centered around being a big daddy. Rather than saving a little sister, you can choose to adopt it, and allow her to remove ADAM from fallen corpses. Or, you can choose the sinister approach and harvest her for more ADAM, sacrificing her life in the process. Splicers are now much less of a threat, considering you are now one of the almost invincible sentinels you faced in the first game. The only real threat to you are other big daddies, and, of course, the infamous Big Sister. The Big Sister makes sure that order and balance is maintained throughout Rapture, and upsetting that balance will force you to battle against her unparalleled powers. It is said in the article that if you have a bad encounter with the Big Sister, there is an extremely small chance that you are going to survive. I also heard that there is going to be some sort of multiplayer gameplay involved, although the primary focus of the game will once again be single player.
If you have any other questions that I may be able to answer just leave a comment on my messenger. Thanks!
