[b]Well, I don't really know the status of this, but I do know that if it is being made, that the storyline needs to be him coming back (perhaps with the army or something like that) to get rid of the threat. As far as gameplay goes, it should have squads already to equip (like they come on a ship with you), choosing the best places for your barricades, being able to set up your wall and positions, and you should be able to have fixed gun postitions. But for a challange, it should have more with weapons (mabey even guns, haha), zombies from more directions, and completely new zombies.

There is a Last Stand 3 being made. He (Con Artist) said he would start on it after Warfare 1944 is released, which I believe it said in the blog that the release date would be the 20th or some date within that week. Here is the link to the blog.

ConArtist says on his blog that you will break free...probably something like night of the dead? that would change the whole game and in my opinion take away the good parts...
I doubt he has started yet. I just heard he is making Warfare 1944, so he probably hasn't started if he is making it.

Anyways yeah he has already made it clear he is going to make The Last Stand 3. In fact here is the direct quote he made concerning it.
Last Stand 3 wonât be like the previous 2, at all. Everything you know and love will carry over, itâll just be very very different. The whole barricade shooting outward thing is just a bit tired, itâs time to break free.
So yeah thats all I have seen concerning it so far from him. Warfare 1944 is looking good though I have to admit.
