for playing games I would chose the ps3. it's no point in having a "gaming pc" because after 4, 5 years the newest games will start to lag and you'll have to upgrade or replace it. with consoles it's a different story. they are made specifically for games and will therefore serve a lot longer. the down point with consoles is that you really can't do much more than play games and when a new generation of a certain console comes out you can be sure that the production of games for your old model will drastically fall.
and the price is another thing. a $300-$400 PS3 vs a $300-$400 PC. I think it's obvious who's the winner. at least from the better-game-machine-point-of-view.
My computer does friggin everything. It has a TV capture card; I record all of my television shows, it's hooked up to a 38" LCD TV that does 1920x1080 straight from the DVI from my video card; it has more file storage then I will ever need, it plays the latest games, flash games, I can browse forums, internet, chat - do everything with this.
The latest generation consoles are almost trying to be more like PCs with the media functions & connectivity; but they don't measure up.
As for the price debate.. yeah - consoles are cheaper. They also do less. You get what you pay for.
PC will never have better graphics if you can cough up 4,000 dollars for an awesome PC. I stick with my 360 and will spend the cash on my tv instead.
Look...no, lol
Would you rather buy every single console generation that comes out, or stick with one, for the same price? My graphics card was only $65, and it was fast enough to play Crysis on full sliders. Your price is too exaggerated. Both of you.
The total price of all parts able to play a new game is roughly equal to that of buying a new console altogether, just that the consoles have default medium-quality sliders, which you can never, ever change.
Besides, in order to fully enjoy the full quality of the PS3, after you bought the console, you need to have a strong HDTV for it. Why not just let your PC do it for you?
Yeah....PCs always win in the fight against consoles. They have been since the birth of gaming.
