It takes time to go up ranks. The higher you get, the harder to go up ranks. For me it takes about a month for me to go up one rank(I mean the little icons for AP. I go up about 10-20 ranks on the users thing EVERY day. It's pretty easy.)

I suspect that it will also get harder to go up in those too the further you get. Since there will be a ton of users who have have very few AP. Once you start getting up higher though there will be less and less people with a bigger difference in points between each.

Yes it used to be 1000+ ranks a day, but now I'm in the top 1000, so it gets a bit harder I guess. But now I keep track. Surprisingly, so many people have a similar amount of points still up here. I did one forum post and skipped three ranks. I thought it was cheap. I suppose that once I hit the top 400 it will be very hard.
Yeah in the top 100 you can go 100 points with out moving up but at least you can see how far you need to go rather than stumbling round in the dark so to speak.
