Well if I had a son who told me he was gay, then I'd be fine with it. Honestly, I see no problem with homosexuality, it's just people overreact to it sometimes. Now I don't know what kind of people your parents are, jcat. If they Catholic extremists, telling them might be a little difficult. :/
I may be wrong but telling your parents may be slightly different than telling an Internet community...most people don't care or are just going to mess with you.
Coming out like this is generally good for yourself. It will relieve stress on yourself, and you'll be able to live a happier life. Beware though, as some people on this site have a baseless dislike for homosexuality.
