Just out of curiosity, why can't you get a merit in the forums? Excluding art competitions, why is this so? I find it rather sad. Good explanation please?

A good joke reason is because we don't have a vote up option in the forums =)

The real reason is, merits are for reviews, but I really would love it if we could have forum merits.
They could be for many things, like proving a powerful, strong point, submitting a walkthrough
to a game, or helping someone out. Points wouldn't be as much, but it's still a good idea.

It is in the common suggestions, you know =)

I am just guessing but maybe the mods think that they would be handing out to many?

It would just be like the game reviews: They would be strict on which ones would be merit-worthy
or ones that are just normal posts.

That would be kind of childish. Merits are prizes for things well done, like good reviews on games. Why do people want prizes for everything? Why can't people just do what they're doing and be happy with it.

I think you're old enough to not have a prize.

Also forum posts are for discussion. It's would be like having a prize if you said something good in a chatroom >.<

You're never too old to have a prize! How dare you even begin to bring age into this...

Well for the walkthrough thing... People just copy and paste stuff! So, even for Forum merits, none for walkthroughs.

Can you prove that? People nowadays in here have the biggest excuse for not having a feature on here.
There's ALWAYS something wrong with everything, isn't there.... Even if it was the biggest, most creative
walkthrough in here, mods still have to say yes, and there can't be more than one walkthrough
for a game. These forum merits can be have more than one objective.

If you think about it, the only reason anybody ever writes a quality game review is for the merit points. If we did have forum merits, it would encourage people to help newer users with their site-related issues. Plus, it would also encourage more people to post in the ever-so-neglected Newcomer's Forum, which is generally avoided due to the fact that no points are gained for posting there.

So, my opinion is, we should have forum merits, but they should be a lot different from game merits.

Sometimes we have merit awards on big competitions like that Art thing. I never win. ):

They have removed it.. For no reason. T_T

Newcomer's Forum, which is generally avoided due to the fact that no points are gained for posting there.

I avoid it due to the huge amount of newbness. I do answer questions if needed, but most posts seem to be "Hi, I'm new", where we have a good amount of users saying "hi and welcome!... In longer or shorter sentences.

If you think about it, the only reason anybody ever writes a quality game review is for the merit points.

Or... Say your opinion about the game. Most of the games are rarely checked, and writing a review there is highly for the sake of the review, not the merit.
But of course, I do not know how you do it, and why.

Even if it was the biggest, most creative walkthrough in here, mods still have to say yes, and there can't be more than one walkthrough for a game.

It seems that some of the sections are greatly ignored, like video games and flash games, as well as walkthroughs. None of the mods seem to be interested, and the secions are in need of intelligent thread (not saying there is non, but it is like trying to find an intelligent post in the tavern in a flamewar).
While the Tavern and World section would be gone through more often, and there would be a better chance for getting a merit for a post there, just because the mods are there more often.

It would just be like the game reviews: They would be strict on which ones would be merit-worthy or ones that are just normal posts.

But would mods be able to stay impartial in a debate, and give the merit to someone with a good post, but with a different on things? Seeing that some of them are greatly against Christianity, fx. All posts might be seen as immature, defending something unreal, all that, and would therefor not deserve a merit.
I mean, forum debates do get heated for no reason.

I think you're old enough to not have a prize.

Now now, this thread was made from curiosity, and should be handled at such. It is not a demand or even a suggestion, just a question asked.

Surprise, maybe that's why I don't write them: I don't care about the points. I prefer forum AP than a long and boring merit. I will probably never get one.

I just asked, and skipped the arguing stuff with proof. It was simply a curious question which I wanted answered. Although some here seem to be taking it as if the feature has been asked for.

I suck at computer art. I might as well as beg Zophia for some lessons. I know just about every micro function in Photoshop, just using it to make a splendid picture is a no.

I can't remember if we had it in the forums, but seeing as it has completely disappeared, it doesn't matter.

and the sections are in need of intelligent thread

Yes! I could correct Cenere for his spelling mistake. SO HAPPY... Wants to bother him.

Same here. I just look sometimes over there, maybe answer a thread, but leave pretty quickly. It's a newbie place, who learn their first lesson on spamming there. A nursery for education...

Snivel... Plokkey is mean!!!

But big Cenny comes to the rescue! Yes, Plokkey, it is only a question: I was not asking for the idea to be implemented, and I don't really care.

True, but if there were no merits, game reviews would be much shorter and more users would be posting ridiculously short comments of five words or less. And isn't a comment with five words or less generally frowned upon here?

Get a scanner, draw with a regular pencil? It works just as well?

Why is it I just felt like some older brother coming to save you from some bully...

People do that already. Spammers do that to the the comment point somewhere they know is not checked regularly. At some point I would just think the people making reviews would either make shorter comments of a good quality, or not write reviews, if there was no merit.
