PC games like Mortimer Beckett or even the Mysteryville series can induce hours of mindless entertainment. Loved them.

MLB 09 The Show. Or since the season is almost over,wait for next year. Best baseball video game. But the best sports game is always Madden. The season is young,so buy Madden 10 in stores right now. Best graphics of any sports game ever,and is claimed to be the best Madden ever,but they say that every year.
