quote]Also North Vietnamese troops set lots of booby traps up in lots of areas. talk about that too.[/quote]
Yeah the booby traps were good. Problem is alot of the time it was a silent enemy. With booby traps there is no one to kill but one of your men gets hurt. The stress this put the men under and the feelings they had. Like en10 says try and watch Full Metal Jacket I think the sniper scene in it shows what I mean.
Also My Lai is a very interesting part to look at I think if you have enough time.
wait up... why did the US troops attack a south Vietnamese village if they were not from south Vietnam? that would be pointless tho, nd pixie, those photos were horrific on wiki. Just the fact that they killed innocent men is just sad. but then killing children, rapping women, and then poisining their water is going waaaay to for. Was it really that important for US to invade vietnam because of their fear of communism?
Whoops sorry guys I should have cheched it properly.

They evidently felt so. I can't quite remember was it the domino affect or something. They thought if Russia went, then China, then Vietnam it could spread. ridiculous.

It wasn't ridiculous. The domino effect was a real danger. Why do you think the North was communist in the first place?
Theres a famous picture of a naked child running from the bombings. You might want to use that.
Also a nice song is Good Night Saigon. Just type it in google. Speaks worlds that song.
As a Revisionist I believe that the USA have alot to answer for. And I do not completely believe in the Domino theory. The USA use of chemical weapons shows what double standards it has. And sending innocent men to die is quite stupid.
To round off heres a famous rhyme: LBJ LBJ how mnay kids have you killed today?

The domino theory and the US' use of chemical weapons have nothing to do with each other.
They did not send men with the intention that they should die as your statement implied.
I fail to see what line of argument you are taking, these points have nothing to do with each other.
On a separate note, my view of Vietnam was that it was a tradgedy because it could have been avoided. The problem was the US was fighting for democracy, yet whenever there were elections the people voted communist. Why? Because years of French colonial rule, followed by an inept US backed administration left the people wanting. Investment in infrastructure, hospitals and schools could have prevented this clash of ideals.

I'm talking about overall US attitude. Revisionism tut tut. Chemical weapons as in defoilants in the Vietnam war. And the Domino Theory was responding to someone in haste.

Looks like the words of a Post-Revisionist. Anyway if there were elections, that entails some parts of democracy already...

Therein lies the problem. If you give the people democracy and the people choose a party that would abolish democracy, what do you do? In the US's case you react with force. In my opinion investment in infrastructure, health and education would have been a wiser move.

It was the people's choice. They chose what they want and the US don't have to stick their *insert derogatory here* noses into their business.
