Me and skater (Zelos Wilder) had an AIM conversation that started out as me emoing out about what I wanted to be when I grew up. We came upon the discussion of video games industry. Here is the conversation. If you would like to add anything in, DON'T HESITATE TO DO SO!

Thoadthetoad (754 PM): I want to be a game designer though.
Thoadthetoad (710 PM): I like to entertain people, and I want to do it through things I create.
Zelos Wilder 45 (748 PM): yeah, but if the economy dosn't shape up, the video game world may crash completely. Sony is in a terrible spot as far as finaces go right now.
Thoadthetoad (756 PM): ...Meaning I suddenly just angst-whored my soul to what I wanna be *facepalm* fuck that was pathetic.
Thoadthetoad (704 PM): :P
Thoadthetoad (706 PM): lol.
Thoadthetoad (719 PM): and no way as far as that, wanna know why?
Thoadthetoad (742 PM): Sega crashed purely because they focused on 3 or so series, and Nintendo is insanely popular to the lower population. Microsoft is slowly taking over the industry of video games. Sony is meant for hardware and photo industry. They're going to come out with something big for the PS3. I've noticed that with every next-gen console, there's a game that outsells their last (except for Super Mario World, which had it's game record broken maybe last year), and Sony has not yet made that game yet. Microsoft had Halo 3, Nintendo had SSBB, and Sony has yet to make it's godly and highly anticipated game. For music lovers with a PSP, I think that it will be Patapon, which incorporates many (I think this post is too big, will continue)
Zelos Wilder 45 (716 PM): yes, but they are lacking to make the sytem work corectly. un till around last year they did not work. I waited untill like 5 years after the psp came out to buy it.
Thoadthetoad (718 PM): Which incorporates many different music qualities. Sony has been specializing in music games industry, and make Coolio Niato look like a Noobie. Parappa the rapper, and several other games were large sucsesses on their part. They continue to make money.

I will also add that the game industry is IMPOSSIBLE to break with our society's rising need to have entertainment. We've started to whore ourself to entertainment, even.
Zelos Wilder 45 (729 PM): and there systems are insanly highly priced.
Thoadthetoad (738 PM): That is true, but:
Thoadthetoad (711 PM): Even with high prices, we (as said before) whore ourselves out to technology. The poor (or young) go onto the internet in order to play free games on other sites. Since sites get money for every single time someone comes onto the site. That's how domains of the interent work (or so I've logiced and heard). Peopple with paychecks, will go for the bigger systems with better graphics and gameplay. Not to mention that with the newer consoles, they have the ability to put internet into these consoles. Computers can run up to 800$ if you want a good one, especially for gaming. If you're spending $300+$100 dollars for a game system, don't you think that the gaming populace will start with consoles? I think it's going to be far from now until the gaming industry collapses for the main reason that humans can't live without a good entertainment. Movies would most likely be the first to collapse, as they take millions to make and get millions back from the populace. If the movies spend so much, but the people can't buy a ticket, then the directors will realise that they're just wasting money.
Zelos Wilder 45 (714 PM): hrm....ture, but once there is not enough money to buy these systems, as it has to be spent on nessecitys, it might crash. Sony may by good, becuse they make a varaty of things. some with Microsoft. Nintendo, however...if they ever went under that would be it. I can never see nintendo going down, becuse they are the most succsessfull among...cheeper people.
Thoadthetoad (737 PM): Nintendo would be the last to fall, I know that for sure. Nintendo is not centered in America, which is why they mainly appeal to our smaller gamers. They focus more towards the japanese populous. You know that stereo-type that everything there is happy, cute, and practically unserious that us americans would absolutely CRACK UP about? My brother inlaw has been there, and confirmed that the rumor is indeed TRUE. I think that if any gaming company is going to fall, it'd be Sega. They have given up upon their consoles after Genesis due to terrible sales. They continue to make games though. They're going to be the first to fall. Next would most likely be LucasArts, since they specialize in movies. When the movies collapse, lucasarts will be killed off immediately. Then would most likely be Bungie, which would kill the microsoft gameplan as well.
Thoadthetoad (700 PM): I am pretty certain that Nintendo will be last to fall though, since they have many original series.
Thoadthetoad (710 PM): My favorite of which is Legend of Zelda.
Thoadthetoad (731 PM): P.S. do you mind me posting this on AG, or do I have to change your AIM name like Cen?
Zelos Wilder 45 (731 PM): o, i could really care less.

i agree. I wasn't thinking of sega, just the big wig game companys.
Thoadthetoad (706 PM): yep, the smaller ones would definetly fall first.
Zelos Wilder 45 (711 PM): yeah, or they would combine with large companys.
Thoadthetoad (736 PM): true, but then they'd just be whoreing themselves out, lol.
Zelos Wilder 45 (738 PM): hrm, better to still have a job.
Thoadthetoad (729 PM): Yeah, I suppose.

Fact of the matter is, if the bigwigs are going to go down the toilet, I'm sure that Nintendo and Microsoft will be the last. Sega will be the first, if not LucasArts or Bungie. Somewhere near Bungie is going to be Valve as well.
Zelos Wilder 45 (701 PM): hrm, as well as the even smaller ones, such as lucas arts. and the like. capcom...
Thoadthetoad (721 PM): Oh yeah, capcom is gonna die fast fast fast!
Zelos Wilder 45 (755 PM): but i love there games!
Thoadthetoad (722 PM): I know D: but they pretty much died (or was severely wounded) when the arcade industry died.
Zelos Wilder 45 (704 PM): yeah...but they still relase alot of there rcade style games on consols. and they have made a few RPGs
Thoadthetoad (716 PM): even with that, they are most likely going to be the first to die. There's always an arcade feel to their games. Even Resident Evil, which has several unlockable minigames where you do mindless tasks with arcadish features, as if there was even a joystick in front of you with only A and B.
Thoadthetoad (721 PM): But, nintendo will probably bail them out, since they have a large alliance with them, since Capcom still makes nintendo a lot of money (mainly through RE and Pacman)
Zelos Wilder 45 (705 PM): well they really don't make much money of RE. Most of there games came out on the ps2. Not the wii/gamecube.
Thoadthetoad (750 PM): That is true, I was mistaken for Sony :P but I'm sure CapCom has gotten a whole lot of money for Nintendo. Even the arcade collections have made a whole bunch of money for them.

But it is true that Capcom will be the first to die. Somehow I think that the gaming industry is still growing, and is somewhere near it's teens, rather than the 40's (using a metaphor, here).
Zelos Wilder 45 (709 PM): very ture, it started only 40 years ago or so. And when you put it that way, when compared to medicine, is very young.
Thoadthetoad (733 PM): srry, now then:

It is very, VERY young. And with the technology of the world slowly progressing, you can only think that entertainment and advertising will be the first to crash (and the first to rise to the top). Sooner or later we'll be using gloves for Street fighter, making every one of our punches theirs. I think it'll be at least another 50 years before the Gaming industry has any problems with either buisness or their consoles.
Thoadthetoad (741 PM): Unless we have a .hack situation, of course.
Thoadthetoad (801 PM): Then again, WoW is something like "The World" fuetured in .hack huh? Since people really HAVE died through the games addictiveness.
Zelos Wilder 45 (801 PM): yeah. i wish I could see into the future, like you sit in a pod, and your pulled into a game. In the game, you feel the pain your charecter feels, you have what abilitys you would really have. Make it a quest...you loevel up in real life. it would be so epic. if you die in the game, you simplie wake up, and are i nthe pod again.

Yes, yes they are. Most of the users in the section are newer users, and they don't really like long posts.
