I'm torn between a high Instinct 2-hander (Wrath of the Counsil) and a high lightning piercing combo (Plasma Rod + Wrath)
My findings so far: The high Ins. stat does prove to give noticably more damage. Between 300-700 more per strike on non-crits and 500-900 extra on crits. In combination with my other gear, it gives %15 crit chance for lightning attacks.
The two weapon combo gives a 20% chance for crits.
After going back and forth, I really can't tell much of a difference. The 15% chance seems to work just as often as the 20% chance, but gives plenty of extra damage. Still, everything dies just as quickly.
^^He's correct. WotC is the best weapon for psychos in terms of damage. Besides, the difference in crit chance is only 3% (WotC does give a bit of piercing). Not worth it for 129 less instinct.
Well, I've now tried joining high lightning piercing with MORE lightning piercing gear and one big thing has changed.
The amount of damage crits do went from +30% to +50%. This is bringing my crits on Lv5 from about 5000 to about 7000. My Ins. is still 500+ (going on 600) but it seems this gives more consistant damage.
Yes, it is, that's why he typed "late game" in the thread title. I can't verify it, but if you seem to enjoy it better than the pure instinct, go right ahead.
in my opinion the piercing doesnt matter, go for the higher instinct, because once you add wraith form + wrath of council + legacy, then at lv 29 the crits are 9000. if you go for pure lightning piercing, you can maybe reach 10000, with charged armor
Just wondering but where do you even get wrath of the council. Anyways go for instinct because the piercing will only help (and barely) if you almost always get critical hits.
Wrath of the Council--rare drop from city council in last zone.
If you want to break the record for best hit as a level 30, then piercing, otherwise instinct is always better. Piercing has more effect the lower the level your enemy is compared to you, so while you may get a crit once in a while on an enemy of the same level, then when you go back to zone 1 you'll get crits every hit.
