Okay, I will now boldly stand out and argue with my little idea.

Right, I know that there have been these users here and there that asked if they could change their names. The answer has always been 'No'. Fine, I'm alright with that. Now I was thinking about something like a nickname. It is always changeable and will be on your Profile. Then people will know what name you prefer to be called and use it. I know it sounds like a waste of time, but how about it?

So would it change the name that appears in the forum? If not surely you could just put something in your about.

I think you've got a good idea going. Do you mean it would go along with the stuff like:

Xbox live
Aim

that kind of stuff?

I am not sure about this idea.
Before they make an account, they should be sure if they like their account name. If not, can't argue with that. I have nothing against the Nickname idea, but I don't think it will do much good. Just my opinion. My nickname would be Zega and there aren't many people who wants their username changed either.

and most people talking to others won't capitilise the name even if it is.

So? every time they post, there name would still show up as it was when they registered. It would just say on my profile...

NICKNAME: skater.

I nthe forums, my name would still show as skater_kid_who_pwns.

So it wouldn't do much.

This idea wouldn't really hurt, not to bad.

In that case why couldn't they just put it in their about part. Is an extra bit really necesary.

It's just a username. If you want to be called something else, put it in your about.

No offense, but there are more pressing things to work on here than nicknames if you ask me. Maybe someday.
