For some reason I managed to post after Strop locked the Ernie15 continued thread... Here is the link if you are interested:

http://armorgames.com/community/thread/ ⦠ued/page/3

When you are on page 1 of the thread, pages 1,2,and 3 are shown as options. However, when you go to page 2, (this is where you locked the thread) the option to go to pg. 3 dissappears. If you go back to page 1, the option to go to page 3 comes up again. On page 3 is my comment that was posted after you locked the thread. Weird, huh?

Here's the link.

I've done it before, too. It just happens when you're still looking at the thread after a mod has locked it, but you haven't refreshed the page.

Oh. It's happend to me too, but I never full understood it. I thouhgt the magic locking powers could keep that from happening.

No, the mod wizards haven't been able to refine the magic of their locking powers. There's always blips with magic.

Ah... So now I know...

You are able to post right before a mod locks the thread. I even tested it by replying to a thread 30 minutes after a mod locked it, by still being in the reply page, while the post is still trying to be submitted. So, if there is a spammy thread, and a mod replies to it, then afterwards locking it, you got about 8 seconds to get cracking on your last reply =P

Shin, you're way off. You didn't even mention anything about the mod's magic locking powers. >_> You do know that this is all handled with magic, right? And that the source of their magic is in Irvine?

I've explained this to thingthingfreak, so I'll copypaste that for everybody:

What you just managed to do is what has become known as "lasting", which is a form of performing a forum 'ninja'. Due to the way the server refreshes, it can take a few seconds for a lock to take effect, during which other users can still post if they were in the thread at the time. We don't really have to worry about that.

Also, if a page of replies is full (10 posts), then when the next page is started, the previous page tends to disappear, due to what I assume is a glitch in the coding of page sorting. A little annoying but again regular and harmless.

Note: We don't really mind "lasting" but if people start posting "last" whenever a mod locks a thread, that could get a bit annoying. Besides you'd only be a pale hack of lastmaster Lige, not least because he reached the Holy Grail of 1337ness postage and is no longer active on the forums.

...So there's no magic involved? Hmm, this complicates things.

-scratches head-

Hmm...

And what's this about "the Holy Grail of 1337ness postage?" You get a holy grail if you get 1337 posts and stop posting in the forums?

Wait, what does this have to do with lige?

Of course there is magic involved!
*speaks in a low voice*- they just don't want you to know it...

1337 stands for Leet in the leet language. Leet is computer language, and for some reason Leige worships it.

So are you like restarting a topic by putting recent posts and replying to them?

One word. Well, actually it's short for two but whatever:

Ninja'd

I do it often (I am a slow typer) because a mod who locks the thread ninjas me.

For some reason: I have never seen Lige worship 1337 and I have never seen anyone write his name how it is pronounced. Leige *chuckles*

If you tab a thread before it gets locked you can reply to it.

Yeah, I've done this a lot. It is just like Fst6 said... If you have the thread open when it isn't locked, and after a minute or so it gets locked and then you post your reply.

You and I have done that in the past.... Anyways, doing that is just a different type of ninja.
