I'm all for artists/authors (whoever) getting money and credit for coming up with their works, but the way the RIAA is handling it is ludicrous. In a case I believe against a young girl 12 or 13 or younger she had 1000s of songs illegally downloaded onto her computer(99 cent songs might I add) The child was ask did she think she was doing anything wrong? She didn't know downloading music was illegal or something and now the RIAA is charging the family I think 5,000 or more for each illegal song that was downloaded and then the family has court fees also. Is it criminal for the RIAA to charge 5,000 dollars for a 99 cent song?

The thing is pirated material is illegal. "She didn't know downloading music was illegal" that is rubbish in this day and age it is impossoble for someone with the ability to download 1000's of songs to not know what is right or wrong as far as the leagality of downloaded material goes.I don;t download music I prefer a nice hard copy but I think it is wrong to download illegally because the author has (in most cases) put alot of effort into producing their thing anddeserve to get the appropriate amount of money from it.
I dont think that its a bad thing or they are going to overboard. Now one person isnt going to do anything but if they didnt have really tough laws a lot of people would loose money because everyone would be downloading shit illegally.

heck ya they are...what is this man..whats a couple of dollars out of the pocket of some rapper or singer, their freaken billionaires or millionaires whats a couple of dollars.

don't really care, i just try to stay out of it.

probably guilty because they probably can't afford a good lawyer

i dont even know what bitorrent site is, but i just try to get my friends to send songs to me, or i get it from you tube.
Most singers don't just get their money from the song itself, I'm not sure about this so don't quote me, but concerts probably gather a huge amount of cash, even after the expenses im guessing. The story about the girl is horrible, the law should put a limit onto how much money they can be fined for, so as to not screw over a whole family because of a misinformed child. And Pixie it would be quite easy for a kid to not know songs downloaded from Limewire are illegal, my 14 year old brother didn't even know until I told him.
