If somebody is caught breaking a certain rule maybe that person should get a demerit? Perhaps they could make you lose a certain amount of AP's depending on which rule you broke. Then on your profile people could see how many of them you have gotten and how you got them.

Uh, aside from this being brought up several times before, it would kinda cause problems. You already lose the AP you have if your post/comment is deleted, and if you break the rules you will get banned. Most people don't care about the AP anyways.
Eh, I don't know... Most of the members here are good little subjects, so de-merits might not happen. Usually those that break rules are those of the lower end of the ranks, so de-merits for them might earn them negative AP, if possible. It "would" be funny to see those on the Wall of Shame though =P

It wouldn't be right to take away a merit, since they earned that and it wouldn't make sense to take it away for say, spamming someones profile. They still wrote a good review. Although it might be a good idea to take AP away if they break rules repeatedly and for some reason aren't being banned.

This was what roughly happened.....I think. Basically he discovered someone posted a porn site link. Then he tried to tell Carlie but accidentally posted the link again....So yeah....ban.....
that would be cool but i dont think so, i think you can already lose certain points for doing bad things, i think the mods will do that, any way demerits is a bad and a good idea, i dunno y , i just think that.
i think its good so the person will learn there lesson, bad because you will die of embarresment. i dont think you would want that XD!
Deletion of spam (or copied game reviews) and thus the removal of the points you gained from it.
Short ban for minor offenses bad enough to require more than a warning.
Medium ban for stuff that is worse than the minor ban worthy offenses.
Long ban for the really bad stuff. Usually includes links to pornography or having alternate accounts.
Permanent ban. That means you really fluffed up.
Demeriting doesn't really seem necessary to mash into that system? A warn level would make more sense (lots of forums have warn levels), but taking away AP beyond what gets deleted from spam... Nah.
You already lose the AP when your spam gets deleted. And you may get a warning, before you are subject to being banned for a while. You shouldn't take away merits though, that is the worst thing you could possibly do.
