I found out that the new DSi is just came out, so I was wondering if I should get it or not, and why or why not. I was planning to, but you people are the people that will convince me to buy it or not. And if you already have one, tell me if it is worth it to buy it!
In my opinion, it's definitely worth it to buy the DSi. I own one, and i think that it is the coolest piece of technology that Nintendo has ever concieved! The most noticable features are probably the 2 cameras and the new-and-improved non-fingerprint-leaving outside, thats right, no more fingerprint smears! The camera has lots of features, here's a list: 1. Regular photos 2. Distortion photos- Stretch and distort a photo with the stylus 3. Graffiti, for the making of fun upon others faces! 4. Color/Color Pad- change the color of the whole photo or just certain parts 5. Mirror Photos- you can spin and reflect photos 6. Mischief- Adds funny stuffs peoples faces! 7. Emoter Photos- Takes a face and adds 3 emotions: happy, angry, and sad 8. Merge photo- take a picture of two faces and blend them together 9. Border- Adds a border to the you take! You can even make your own! 10. Resemblance photo- Take a photo of two peoples faces and see if they are related (not recomended for actual checking of relation; it said I wasnt related to my mother)
The DSi system memory allows room for aroun 400 photos, but also comes with an SD card port where you can store music (only samples from the DSi website right now, updates will hopefully come soon) and up to 3000 photos! The DSi also has a completely recreated menu screen, it has been made more like the Wii menu, with spaces for downloadable DSi ware, and comes with a free gift of 1000 nintendo points! The best items in DSi ware right now are probably WarioWare Snapped, which uses the camera to play 4 different kinds of mini-games(500 Nintendo Points) and the downloadable web browser(FREE)! Sadly, the browser can only let you check your email or serf the web for pictures and info, no video yet, and i am not sure about playing music. There are now 5 different brightness settings, and Nintendo DSi Sound (by nintendo), which is used to play music from the SD card or record short clips of sound with the speakers. You can change the pitch and speed of any sound or music file on the DSi, and save the edited version of the sound (not sure about music) over the original sound file. Only two things were a disapointment to me, and those were the decreased battery life (19 hr. on lowest brightness, full map in DSi handbook) and the fact that there is no more GBA slot in the system. If you have a DS Lite and want to sell it for the $70 dollars off deal on DSi (yes, there is a deal, but your DS Lite has to be fully functional; not sure if you can trade in original DS), be prepared to sell your GBA games (unless you have a GBA or gameboy SP). Anyway, I think that the good definitely overcomes the bad in the DSi (not that its really that bad in the first place, its awesome!) and I recomend that you buy the DSi.
P.S.- Don't be turned away by the slogan/motto thing "what will you and i do together?". That threw me off for awhile too, but I decidet to get the DSi anyway, and it's great!
And by the way, I found out that you can get a 50 dollar discount for a regular DS, and a 15 or 10 dollar discount for gameboy advance. But I am sure that you can sell the DS for more and then buy the DSi. Also, the DSi does not have a GBA slot, so for games like Pokemon Diamond or Platinum, you cannot migrate games from GBA games anymore... But anyway, it's still awesome!
yeah, the gba thing kinda sucks, and i think i mentioned it in my, uh, essay, but i didnt know the discount was only $50 or that you get dicounts for gba
i wish i could sell my regular ds... but i cant find the top screen... that thing was really kinda cheap. my ds lite survived 3 years, and my regular ds... only one
Ehh, I bought it, but it wasn't as good as I expected. The PSP has everything it has, (xcept camera and sound record) But the PSP has Excellent 3D. I dunno, buy 1 if ya like, but I was dissapointed.
the DSi imo is not worth it, you will lose the ability to play GBA games, and I know for sure there are some awesome GBA games out there, such as golden sun 1 & 2. Also Final fantasy tactics advanced.
personally I think the camera is not that great. Just use the iPhone camera, it even surfs the web better.
I have one and it's a great portable console. I hope the download store becomes as popular as the i Phone apps that would be cool if there were apps for the dsi like the i Phone.
yea dont get it... You want a good system? Get a PSP if u like handhelds... So much btr. I had been debating between that and a DS... I played my friends DS, and it was a huge disappointment. And trust me a camera isn't that great. I got a phone that can do all that lol, and its not like ur gonna spend ur time playing with these photos all the time... Not to mention the internet kinda sucks on it...
Not to mention how fragile the DSi is going to be. If the Lite was fragile enough, this one's going to be even more. The original DS was much stronger and more durable. I had the DS and my cousin had the DS Lite, mine survived, while his binds on the DS Lite broke off, so the top screen never stayed put, and when he moved the top screen up high, the picture would disappear.
Nintendo just keeps getting weaker and weaker, if you catch my drift. What they did in the beginning was great, but I guess they fired the guys who designed the layout and hired idiots who likes everything small.
