I'm not sure but from what I have heard it may be a bag to protect yourself from smoke in the event of fire. Not that that makes any sense.

Well there's a manual on the left, but that furry animal confuses me. What is that?
I think that Pixie is right. It maybe is a smoke protecting bag. Just to have enough supply of clean air to get through a tick smoke. And yes it is pointless. You can always hold your breath.
