Madagascar did not suck. If you want you can read my longer explanation below, you can, but that is my overall sum-up.
I have not seen Madagascar the first, although I probably will in the near future. The first scene in Alex's childhood was rather explanatory, with some chinks of humor, ending with a good but gripping, failed chase. This was enough to grasp my attention to the rest of the movie. There was a lot of humor that you usually only see in adults that was portrayed by the animals in the storyline, and the idea was good enough. Even though all four of the main characters had pretty much different stories that were told throughout the movie, by the end, all four of them were together in facing their problems.
If I had to put a number on it, I would say that I liked the movie enough for a 9/10.
I saw the first one. Maybe the second one was not so good because the expectations were too high. People generally get bored seeing a bunch of animals talking after a while.
I thought the first Madagascar was alright but it wasn't good enough to do a second. Then they went and made a sequel that was way too much the same thing.
the penguins are awesome, the rest of the cast not so much.
