I got a mac about 2 months ago and it was super fast (compared to my 2004 model =p) and about a week ago it started to go as slow as my old computer! Does anyone have any ideas how to make it faster?
Maybe you got a virus. Did you check? Also, delete ALL unnecessary e-mails. You should also clean your "file box" for all files, and not have any weird files or useless files there. That's what I do...
Well your the problem if both of your computers were slow. Just try not to download to much stuff or add unneeded programs. My advice remove them. If the mac is still slow... buy a pc
they are kinda funny, but the only thing that sucks about a mac is that It can't play all the good games, like Crysis, Halo 3, ect. which is why the mac blows hard, and I'm too poor to get a new graphics card for my pc :c
Don't turn this into a Mac vs. PC thread, there's one of those over in the Video Games section, iirc.
Try checking how much free memory you've got left. If there's lots, you may wanna take it to an expert. If there's only a little, well there's ya problem~
Your activity monitor should tell you what you need to know. Just go to Find-activity monitor from your finder if you don't know where it's located.
Check your system memory tab on the monitor for most of your info. There are may pages of help if you type "mac running slow, activity monitor" into a search engine. Several professional forums discuss what the page ins/outs mean, how much active and free space is necessary, some quick fixes, and what they mean for your computer.
I have recently installed Clicktoflash for Tiger/Leo and it has helped my speed dramatically. Research it first though...
I dont know how to check the memory space or file box. I used to have pc so this mac is sorta new to me. =[ so if anyone can tell me how to check those things that would be good!
If the problem is just happening on Armor Games, then that is no surprise. AG runs REALLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY slow because of all the adds, pictures, ex.
I don't know much about Macs, but in a PC I know there is a place you can go to see what starts up when Windows boots. So if there's anything like that for Mac you might want to make sure that you're not running anything you don't need.
If you have less than... Oooh let's say 3 gb? Then you need to delete as much useless folders/junk you have. You need a certain amount of harddrive space for stuff to work propely.
My PC too forever to load when I first logged in (unless I left it for like 2-3 minutes) but after I free'd up about 5 gb's of useless junk/games I dont play anymore it loads instantly.
