aw thats not nice! I think tupac has great lyrics! but the rapping song part.... is not so much. Soo I'd have to go with Disturbed because I am down with the sickness.
Tupac. Along with Biggie Smalls, the best rapper of all time. Let's clear up a few misconceptions, shall we.
The first of which being the music. Or the lack of, therefor. There is no real music in Tupac's music, it's just a beat that was most likely made on the computer. Disturbed actually uses instruments in their songs. In my opinion it's not music if you don't have a real instrument in it.
Nonsense. The soul of rap is the beat. There are notes, harmonies, and of course rhythms, and there were quite a few beats that were not computer synthesized (not that it would make it any less musical).
Secondly, I'm listening to a song of Tupac's right now. Hit 'Em Up, and every other word is cussing. If I tried to post even a part of the lyrics on here I bet that it would be unreadable because of the filters.
Hit 'Em Up is a diss track. It should be expected that there is profanity. Musically, it is on the virtuoso level, with amazing features from Hussein and Kadafi.
Tupac is the type of person who creates stereotypes. I'm not racist, but it's because of people like him that blacks have the reputation that they do in America.
Nonsense again. If anything he is not a stereotype. Have you put any care into taking a look at his life or the pressures that molded him into the people he was? The man was amazingly well read; he graduated from a school of the arts. In his core he was not a thug and an artist instead. He resented being branded as a stereotype, but people immediately jumped onto that conclusion, unfortunately.
In conclusion, because of Tupac's music that seems to show no thought at all to lyrics and because of his gang affiliations and such in life.
Of all the things...that was the most ignorant. Perhaps you should listen to songs like Changes, All Eyez on Me, Life Goes On, Brenda's Got a Baby, the powerful, social classics that he made. And you say that he put no thought into his lyrics? That is much like saying Mozart put no thought into the music that he wrote in only a day. Sure, he had his songs that were basically bragging rights (I Get Around), but his best raps cut straight to the trials and passions of life. Tupac was not part of a gang either, nor was his life necessarily a bad one.
Why did you (the creator of this thread) choose to compare Disturbed with 2pac. Though i am much in favor of Disturbed, they are hard to compare seeing as they are completly different genras
1. Music Not that Disturbed has great music composition or lyrics, but compared to Tupac, it's not very hard to outclass him on any level. Seriously. Disturbed's people, however, used their talent and learned to play instruments and sing. Tupac did not use instruments. As Green said earlier, it's not really music if you don't use real instruments.
2. Lyrics As mentioned earlier, lyrics can be a crucial element of the song - I listened to some Tupac music and it's practically like listening to someone just say explatives. Look up the lyrics of both "artists", then get back to me.
Tupac was affiliated with gangs, Disturbed was not. Disturbed isn't the best place to go for role models or anything like that, but Tupac is one of the people that paved the way for the racial issues and stereotypes that exist today. -.-
