I hope no one has brought this up before (other than them just complaining). But with the increasing amount of locked topics it slows down the loading of many things on the community. So maybe it could be changed so instead of a mod locking a thread they delete it.

I always thought it was to show that you shouldn't do whatever made them have to lock the thread.

Yes but if you actually read the rules or read random moderator comments you might learn something! (thank you random two people who have read "some" of the rules. *giant applause* But otherwise most people by instinct don't do that.

And thank you unlimitedpower for answering those questions and comments for me.

Funny, I love to read the comments the mods leave in the locked topics. Simply because they are filled with awesome.

Nemo does have a habit of lock and run, which is less fun, though.

And some people should invest some time in reading the stickies...

yes but remember this slows down the server and i'm sure there are plenty of even better topic the stupid 5 year old ones (or 5 seconds looking on how we have like 8 locked topics on the front page)

It does not slow it down much, you know. And half the topics made recently are bad. The rest is only half bad. What about the 400 page long threads? Would they not create more lack?
It is not a problem, otherwise the mods would be asked to delete more instead of just locking.

Like I said in page one: a thread is a thread, regardless if it's locked, stickied, active,
or dead. A page, with the option of having it being able to be replied to by regular members, or
being cut off. Saying that locked threads are the cause of this "lag" is not true.

REAL LAG is when something in the site is constantly receiving information to come up
with the solution to the condition. That green button next to your name for instance. It has
to wait till you haven't been on the site in some time for it to turn red. Until that happens,
it is constantly keeping tabs to accurately solve the condition. This is of course not as extreme as the "last active" feature we used to have.

Do threads receive and send information? No, they store information, the replies that users send
to the thread. It's not doing a thing. Again, saying that locked threads are the cause of
lag is wrong.

Your welcome! Always glad to help.

Nemo? NoName, I believe you mean. Might add that into my list of nicknames...

It doesn't really slow the server down. The server slows down when there is mass stress, or thousands of users calling for data. Locked threads are simply data pieces that can't be edited anymore, and because of that, most people don't go to them.

It does not slow it down much, you know. And half the topics made recently are bad.

Recently, I have noticed that the forums are becoming worse and worse in ideas and tidiness. The threads are very dull, and the good ones are always on bugs. In fact, I spent a week going to the forum and never writing anything because nothing was interesting.

Like I said in page one: a thread is a thread, regardless if it's locked, stickied, active,
or dead. A page, with the option of having it being able to be replied to by regular members, or

Good definition there, Shiny!

Saying that locked threads are the cause of this "lag" is not true.

Threads consist mostly of text: Text traveling through the internet is about a maximum of 20 KB with very long posts(Like mine). Now Sonny 2 is about 250,000 KB or more. Games are what slow down Armorgames. You may have noticed it when Sonny 2 was released: The whole site was slow because so many people were loading the game and playing it at the same time. So threads are anything BUT the cause of the lag.

This is of course not as extreme as the "last active" feature we used to have.

Now that was a real lag that almost made people kill their computer. Newbies haven't seen what real lag on Armorgames is.

Do threads receive and send information?

Only when they are loaded or the submit button pressed.

That is what Strop calls him, I just end up use the same name, as Nemo mean no name. So yeah...
The worst is, I usually just refer to him like that on the forums now, instead of stopping and use the right name...

How funny!

Now that seems bad...
