rules exist for a reason

VS THREAD RULES

When posting in a thread where the topic is something like "SNES vs Dreamcast," you really need to put down more than just one word responses. When list your choice, make sure to explain why you think it is the best/worst. Also, any repeats of existing VS threads will be directed to the original one and then locked by a moderator.

Examples of bad responses are:
- SNES!!!
- Dreamcast
- SNES/Dreamcast FTW!!
- SNES/Dreamcast lol

Examples of good responses are:
- The SNES/Dreamcast was a better system because the games were classic and had great gameplay.
- The SNES was great because..{Insert decent reason here}. The Dreamcast was not all that great because...{Insert decent reason here}.

These rules and examples are not just restricted to game console versus game console threads. They also apply to character versus character, game versus game, game type versus game type, and so on.

Any thread from here on out which does not adhere to afore mentioned rules and guidelines has the likelihood of being locked.

I'm only at lvl 25 in GC:0, but I still prefer the older GC over it. I think the increase in skills were more "fair" and it was easier to level up. There are so many tweaks in the skills for GC:0 that I'm positively confused.

It is interesting the different modes (sudden death, endurance), and it makes the game playable, but I miss the glowing frame mode of the original.

I'll analyse the pros/cons of each.

Chapter 0
Pros: Many skills (even individual gem special skills)
multiple game modes
Easy arcane levels (compared to chapter 1's epic levels, at least)
Traps you can put gems in (sacrificing damage and range for rate of fire and specials)
Prismatic gems (Chapter 1 doesn't get them)

Cons: Hard as hell non-arcane levels
The healing beacons
Hard to unlock hidden levels

Chapter 1:
Pros:
Simple skills system
Pure gem mastery is practically unstoppable once maxed.
Easy non-epic levels
Easy to level
Easy to unlock the hidden levels (once you have pure gem mastery, that is)

Cons:
Epic levels = HARD
No gem traps, only water trenches (which are pretty much damage free blue traps which only affect monsters on the trench, instead of a supercharged blue special)
Only one game mode
You can't control what extra gems you start with other than their grade (on the bright side, you can get grade 4/5/6 starter gems, unlike chapter 0, in which it only caps at grade 3 with maxed out special boosting skill)

I'd say they're pretty much equal.

Gemcraft 0 is a great game, I've learned to really use those traps and have gotten used to the skill set. Plus the multiple game types were a great idea.

I like in Gemcraft one how the trenches would slow the enemies down giving your gems more time to pound on the monsters. I also like the set of skill better.

I miss trenches, but Gemcraft 0 is definitely an improvement on the series.

Gemcraft chapter 1

The only reason players like gemcraft chapter 1 is because it easy, but that is reason i actuly hate it. Gemcraft chapter 1 is just to easy, cant understand why players like it. Easy things is to newbegginers that cant play. What the point of a game, if you can beat it by first try.

Gemcraft chapter 0

Gemcraft is a game that is hard, and the most important reason i like it, and i am very sure that other players also like it because of that. What is fun about the Gemcraft chapter 0, is that you can make much more diffrent strategies. Many skills mode make it more fun, that the reason you can make many strategies. What can i say only a real gamer will choice Gemcraft chapter 0

New con for chapter 0; no supergemming.
Chapter 1 is now better.

hmmm. I'd say both, though GC0 is more of a challenge even at times where GC1 was still a challenge.

GC0:
Pros: Traps and trap specials, anger, different battle modes, structures on the battlefield. I would like to be able to anger the arcane guardian tho, once at least
Cons: Hard to learn what do skills alter (except for masteries), uniform skill points cost (yep, some skills deserve tweaks in here), high dependancy on orange (no color should prevail, or else the game gets skewed to one side).

GC1:
Pros: Original (it's a pro, since without GC1 there would be no GC0), color balance, pure levels.
Cons: Glowing frame score conception, which does not block much (well, secret levels are something to block, that's for sure,I think there should be something more in there...), gets boring after level 40, "number" skill spoiling the start of every level, useless "mana over time" skill, wrong calculation of "grade 7 or higher" (they fixed this one in GC0).

In short - the GC1 is better while it still provides a challenge, GC0 is better while you get the knack of it, or at least get to the point where you can play aggressively.

(Thystonius: win all levels in a segment between arcane guardians in "heroic" mode to open secret levels in that segment)

Look, they are both great games.

I prefer dome of the stuff in GC1 but overall I like GC0.

I think that a GC2 would be so awesome, incorporating some of the major Pros of both of the gams, with a taste of something new.

In GC0 I love how there are different modes in which to play, which makes the game just that much better.

Chp0 is way easier, but CHP1 opens up a lot of new elements.
Hard to say.
