Whats is Progressive metal?

Progressive metal is a fusion genre; a mixture of progressive rock and heavy metal.

My favourite progressive metal band is Dreamtheater

Mine is Opeth, it's progressive death metal. I also like Dream Theater and Cynic.

They are more prog rock, but they do have some metal influences.

dude my personal faves are meshuggah and gojira, which are both phenomenal bands. Some others are mastadon, dream theater (tho they arent too great), and opeth is pretty good. but srsly...gojira are fricken epic. french prog/tech/death metal for the win!!! \\m/

Ok, let progressive in an easy way to understand. Progressive has realy no chorus. Just keeps going with the song and doesn't have chorus. Dream Theater is a good Progressive Metal band. I would say Dream Theater is Prog metal and isin't. A lot of their songs are metal and a lot aren't.
