I'm trying to get achievements. Heroic mode, biological, fighting Clemons the Deceiver alone. However, the mysterious spell he is putting on me doesn't seem to reverse all damage. I still get hurt if I heal myself, but he can still damage me! Is this normal? How do I beat him?

I don't think he had any any attacks that go through it, unless shadow does. But when you have the debuff on you, just stun him. From your other post you sound like a bio. Just break/crystallize him like you said.

Sure but that takes so long, break barely does any damage. If I let him hit me, he does do shadow damage to me, enough to kill me in 2-3 turns. And I can't heal... Isn't there some better way to kill him?

His "Unknown Condition" is pretty much a Subversion/Retrograde with more turns. It reverses ALL healing with damage and ALL damage with healing! If you try to heal yourself (and BE healed, by proxy), you'll just end up damaging yourself. If you get attacked, you'll get HEALED.

When Clemons casts "Unknown Condition" upon you, he actually heals you. This is evidenced when he first uses it, you recover health. Every single time after he uses it on you, he'll DAMAGE you, because it's supposed to heal you, but UC reverses it, thus damage.

Your best bet would be to try to stun him (Crystallize/Break) and sometimes, destroy his focus. Once you get to half health (I can see right through you, the phrase marks the check-point), he should stop using UC, and take a more aggesive approach. For some reason, while I was doing this, he stopped fighting alltogether after 5 turns. He just spent the rest of his life there, taking my attacks 'till he kicked the bucket (again, if the poster in Zone 3 is any indication). Hopefully, the same will happen to you.

I'm telling you that when he attacks me, HE HURTS ME even though I have the "unknown condition" and I can't heal. He does 560 or 800 shadow damage.

Sorry for double posting.

Look at it this way:

He uses UC on you. He heals you. You get debuffed with "Unknown Condition".

Next turn, he does it again. You take damage because he heals you by using this attack, but because you're stricken with UC, you get reversed effects = DAMAGE!

This is how he can damage while you have UC. He's healing you! If you want to counter this, make sure you don't have the Passive ability that restores your life every turn, make sure you're faster than him, and see if you can temporaly counter the effects with your own Subversion. Sorry, but since I'm not really playing Bio a lot, I'm not up to speed if you have an ability you can cast on yourself that doesn't heal you and leave a lasting healing effect. If you can poison yourself (If you can, I don't know, never tried it), then your set.

For Psychos: Overdrive + Dark Infusion. Set your team on relentless until you need some heals in the second phase, then keep Vera on defensive (or phalanx) because you'll lose 10% health each turn and Clemons has some pretty strong attacks (that now actually work). I didn't need try it without overdrive on challenging.

When you think Clemons is going to go into his second form. Use Subversion on him and he'll end up killing himself.

To Felpah:

To get Black Magic achievement, you have to defeat Clemons without any teammates.
