When I click a game to play, the spot where the game should be is just a white space, and I can scroll down and see comments and description just fine, it was all working yesterday just fine, and I haven't changed anything on my computer, so I'm not sure what's wrong, anyone have any ideas?

this happens to me all the time so i don't think it's AG. I guess you might just have to bare with and hope that the games you do play will work. (and yes for me it does pull up games up once in a while) It might just be the computers age, too.

Just a suggestion for all the peeps who are complaining about armorgames.com . . . Please remember that we have the &quotrivilege" of playing these games free of cost. Therefore, complaining about armorgames makes you sound like a three year old throwing a tantrum at the toy store because mommy wouldn't buy the toy you wanted. After all, armorgames is the site which gives us the above mentioned privilege. In short, don't bite the hand that feeds you. Please do what the majority of us are doing; post your problem and patiently wait for a fix.

You are more than welcome to follow your own advice. As for me, I will follow a different route. The way I see it, Armorgames is here because they are (or are hoping to) make money. Money that pay their staff salaries and their server costs and whatever else. They make this money if I (and others) play games here. SOmehow they make the money even if they don't charge us. They have decided that allowing people to play here for free somehow is a good business model. But, and this is the important part, they can only make money if they have a growing business. Customers (free or not) like me and others are the blood of their business. If they don't make us happy and we go to other places like Kongregate or newgrounds or nonobo or any one of the many places, then it is not in ArmorGames' best interest.

So it pays for them to keep us happy. I'm not abusive, I don't call them names. All I want is for them to communicate with us when things go wrong.

oh yea, and thanks for fixing it. It is playing and my saved game is still there.

But now I wonder. The link someone provided earlier in this thread gives a really nice - fullscreen image of Gemcraft Chapter Zero. So much nicer than the itsy-bity image when playing in the fully-working Armorgames.... hmm? Something you guys can do to make the games bigger?

I doubt that... this computer is pretty new, so it shouldn't have any problems.
In any case, I don't really blame AG - I'm sure it's something they're working hard to fix this. Even though - as Karsten said - they need to make money, they wouldn't have this site if they didn't love making, playing and sharing online games. So I doubt money is their first priority - or at least, the only first.

As for the link: it's simply playing the actual .swf without the page around it. Games played this way aren't designed to be played like this, so you might see some weird things - things you sometimes shouldn't have to see. Plus, you don't see the (google) ads which means it's not in AG's best interest to have people play that way.

And final; the saved games can be moved like described before. Vista however has a different file structure, so the files should be moved from C:\\Users\\[user]\\AppData\\Roaming\\Macromedia\\Flash Player\\#SharedObjects\\C4W2Q4KM and then from cache.armorgames.com to armorgames.com

Thanks PixelSmash! I got it to work when i did as said before:

You will have no saved games. For continuing your adventure you will have to move some files from

C:\\\\Documents and Settings\\\\User\\\\Application Data\\\\Macromedia\\\\Flash Player\\\\#SharedObjects\\\\5X2NQ4PU\\\\cache.armorgames.com
to C:\\\\Documents and Settings\\\\User\\\\Application Data\\\\Macromedia\\\\Flash Player\\\\#SharedObjects\\\\5X2NQ4PU\\\\armorgames.com
The files are:
- giabGemcraftZeroPreferences.sol
- giabGcChapter0SaveData.sol

Thi worked for me although i play from normal gemcraft0 page in http://armorgames.com/play/3527/gemcraft-chapter-0

The name of the folder 5X2NQ4PU is in my computer something else, but there is only one folder wich has thiskind of bizarre name. And you need to be really careful that you move the files FROM cache.armorgames.com TO armorgames.com folder... And my system is windows XP with FireFox 3.0.10 and flashplayer 10.00.22.7

Thanks a lot to everybody, my level 56 GC-game didn't gone to the winds of internet.

While I agree w/Karstan75 that a banner notification would have been nice. I have to point out that this is a site with only about 9 moderators. Most of these folks have other jobs to pay the bills (plus some are getting their degrees). There aren't hundreds of associates sitting around in a large building 24/7, just waiting to assist us. Playing these games are free because they follow the ad based revenue model like many similar flash game websites. Don't think for one second that they (or other sites like these) are rolling in dough.

This is not Blizzard with an ungodly amount of resources and infrastructure (World of Warcraft alone has a operational cost of $200 Million!) Yet that game still has multiple crashes/patch issues affecting millions of people paying anywhere from $155 to $180 yearly.

In all the time I've played games on this site, I've only experienced 2 periods of major downtime (including this one) so I think the gang at Armor does a bang up job overall.

If you want better service and faster response time then click on the pop-up ads. Greater revenue= additional staff/better infrastructure, etc. etc. Never forget what Mom said; You get what you pay for.

<applause> So true and well said GrimCarnage. We get a lot for free here thanks to the ad revenue and SHOULD be thankful that we don't have more down time.
