Ok, This is where you talk about Oblivion IV, including the expantions Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles...

My favorite part about Oblivion is the alchemy! so much fun!

My favorite mod is the harvest Flora mod, which lets you see witch plants you have taken from and which ones you have not! really neat mod! be sure to post any tips or walkthroughs to quests, or cheats or codes!

I will post more later!

One thing for Oblivion which is pretty commonly known, but a good tip -

Enemies in the game scale with your level, not with your skill set. To that end, you can make the skills that you want to use most often, your miscellaneous skills, and skills you never use, part of your primary skills. This way, you can get much better as a character without levelling up, and as such, the enemies you fight are significantly weaker.

My one and only tip would be to put the effort in, take your time and explore a lot. The game is huge. It's a far more satisfying experience to discover things for yourself that to use glitches and cheats, trust me.

I got totally sucked into this game for a long time. I got two characters to level 50, with highest possible armor value and reflect damage and shield, and I got to 100 in all of my major skills. I was master of all the guilds, and had almost all of the quests co,pleted. Then, the data got corrupted. But. some tips:

-one handed swords are the best weapon type.
-touch spells are situational. Very much so.
-Buy a house. Self-explanatory. (if you can, the best is the oone in Skingrad.)

do the daedric quests at a high level cause they will give you an insanely awesome reward but only if your a high level about 30+ should be good enough.

also when starting out DO NOT do the main quest wait a while and get your level up at least 20 and then find all of the oblivion gates theres only 15 if i remember correctly (i haven't played for a while). the use duplication glitch on the sigil stones and enchant rings so you can use the permanent enchantment glitch to make your self invincible (yes this works for the 360 cause i used it)

now just some of my thoughts on the "skills" (cant remember the name)

Blade-its decent just never have a claymore or else you will die very quick i agree with thisisnotanalt that ONE handed swords r the best
Blunt-if you have the daedric warhammer which is the strongest ,not best, weapon in the game youll do pretty good
hand to hand-i never use until im level 30 and i want to get my strangth up
armorer-is essential if you a combatant you want this 50 BEFORE you start to use enchanted stuff
block-i could careless about
heavy armor-this only pays off once your level 100 then you wont be encumber while wearing it
athletics-stinks just always have a restore fatigue spell or restore fatigue potion
acrobatics-is usually one of my major skills because it is extremely easy to get up and helps out your level a lot
light armor-its once again usually one of my major skills beacuse it protects prteey good especially if you have perfect amber from si
security-dont ever have this as a major skill even if you are a theif cause once you are level 10 you can do the deadric quest for skeleton key which is an unbreakable lockpick and its boosts your security by a lot
sneak-just get a charmealon or invisibility potion/spell preferablly spell
marksman-IF THIS IS YOUR PRIMARY WEAPON OF CHOICE HAVE BLADE A DECENT LEVEL FOR CLOSE COMBAT
mercantile-just use the dulpication spell
speechcraft-bribe or get a charm spell its way more useful
illusion-crutial if you are a wizzard or especially a theif for invisibility and charmealeon
alchemy-good for whatever you are ingredients are everywhere and extremely useful and its easy money
conjuration-good when your taking a lot of damage and need some help
mysticism-get dispel potions instead
alteration-good if your a wizzard and your dont like to lockpick also the protect are really good
desrtuction-never use fire or frost spells use lightning because almost nothing has a resistant to it
restoration-easy hp and fatigue

now just some stuff to help you out
raid ruins good rewards
do quests
get the expansions
in shevering isles there arent a lot of quests but thier reward is awesome

hope all of this stuff helps

NOTE:sorry for the bad spelling

Also, if you're a destruction mage, then getting the lady as your birthsign will actually be very helpful. Giving yourself more durability plus al of those deadly spells makes an uber character.
