I was about answer. Well, Cenere has said it all. Money does not grow on trees. All of us here in AG show know that it AG's very existence as a website costs money.
Too tempting, so let me see if I can come up with something:
AG has their HQ somewhere in Califonia (I think > >, which is build with all what they need, which means the servers, and a huge amount of internet. Besides that, they most likely have flash, which is rather expensive. And computers, all the eqcuipment for running a website, as well as making games. In general it is not that expensive to host and run a site, but since there is people asking to be sponsored, as well as the staff payment and other expenses (water, electricity..) it get a lot of money really fast. I am sure not all of this are paid by ads, though, but I am not sure what it would be. So yes, ads are important to the site, without them we might end up having to pay for extra functions, and start donating and more. But a good piece of advice: When the store get up and running properly, go there, buy stuff, show how much you love the site.
And seeing the photos from their HQ, I would say they have a pretty good time there.
We all have to live somewhere, it could be in chicago on montreal... and you anwser your question yourself... would you want to work 600 km away from where you live? :P
Haha! Though actually it is just a coincidence that Dan lives there. Why he would move somewhere else to make AG when he could just do it where he is staying.
California is also known as the state of computers or something.
Just a note to say that Silicon Valley has lost a lot of shine and glory to several other cities of the world. Montreal in Quebec/Canada is becoming and important player almost as renowned as Silicon Valey...
The only difference, theres a log of snow 5 months a year!

Though there are still important computer electronics companies based there.
But then I noticed the smiley.
Hehe.
Why did you repeat it? Just in case I didn't see it the first time?
I repeated it for no reason in particular. You saw it the first time, didn't you?
