Swine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu, and pig flu) refers to influenza caused by the strains of influenza virus that usually infect pigs and are called swine influenza virus . Swine influenza is common in pigs in the midwestern United States (and occasionally in other states), Mexico, Canada, South America, Europe (including the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Italy), Kenya, China, Japan, Taiwan, and other parts of eastern Asia.
SYMPTOMS chills, fever, sore throat, muscle pains, severe headache, coughing, weakness and general discomfort.
The 2009 flu outbreak in humans that is widely known as "swine flu" is due to a new strain of influenza A virus subtype H1N1 that was produced by reassortment from one strain of human influenza virus, one strain of avian influenza virus, and two separate strains of swine influenza virus. The origins of this new strain are unknown, and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) reports that this strain has not been isolated in pigs. It passes with apparent ease from human to human, an ability attributed to an as-yet unidentified mutation. This 2009 H1N1 strain causes the normal symptoms of influenza, such as fever, coughing and headache.
WAYS TO PREVENT
Avoid Large Crowds Wash hands regularly with soap. Avoid contact with an infected person. [!]If infected, please stay indoors, and quarantine yourself[!]
There are over 200 reported cases reported in the entire world, with over 10 deaths.
1st. Myn isn't a word. 2nd. By that, I meant that yours was false, because there have been over one hundred deaths in just one of the many countries it is in. ----- It's okay, but please try to find some more exact figures
Whats interesting about the Swine flu is that people are worried about it but there has been little action anywhere. I mean you'd think that states near Mexico such has Texas would have closed down everything. And other places would take some action to prevent it before it showed up there. I know that the government doesn't want to over react but when things like this happen its better to be caution,at least you'd think that.
The problem is we always take too much caution, and it seems like a big deal, but we make it seem like that. Its just a normal flu and passes so quickly b/c we do everything possible to stop this.. which is dumb.
